5. The Electors to <strong>the</strong> Munby Fellowship shall be <strong>the</strong> Librarian, ex <strong>of</strong>ficio, and not more than four<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r persons appointed from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Library Syndicate to serve for a period determined<br />
at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir appointment by <strong>the</strong> Syndicate. The Electors shall have discretion to seek <strong>the</strong> advice<br />
<strong>of</strong> appropriate bodies, including appropriate bodies overseas, before making an election.<br />
6. The Munby Fellow shall have no departmental or o<strong>the</strong>r staff duties and responsibilities within<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> Library during his or her tenure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fellowship.<br />

MARGARET MUNN-RANKIN FUND FOR A SSYRIOLOGY<br />
1. The sum bequea<strong>the</strong>d to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Miss Joan Margaret Munn-Rankin, M.A., <strong>of</strong> Newnham<br />
College, for <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> study and research in Assyriology shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Margaret<br />
Munn-Rankin Fund for Assyriology.<br />
2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Human, Social, and Political Science.<br />
The Board may delegate any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions concerning <strong>the</strong> Fund to a Committee not necessarily<br />
consisting wholly <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board.<br />
3. The primary purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be to maintain a postgraduate studentship in Assyriology,<br />
which shall be called <strong>the</strong> Margaret Munn-Rankin Studentship in Assyriology.<br />
4. The Managers shall give not less than three months’ notice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir intention to proceed to an<br />
election.<br />
5. The Studentship may be held by any person who desires to undertake research or training for<br />
research in Assyriology. The Managers may take such steps as <strong>the</strong>y think fit to ascertain <strong>the</strong> qualifications<br />
<strong>of</strong> candidates and <strong>the</strong>ir ability to undertake research.<br />
6. The Managers shall elect a Student in <strong>the</strong> first instance for such period not exceeding three years<br />
as <strong>the</strong>y shall think fit. They shall have power to re-elect a student for any fur<strong>the</strong>r period not exceeding<br />
three years if <strong>the</strong>y are satisfied that his or her work is <strong>of</strong> a sufficiently high standard to merit such an<br />
extension.<br />
7. A Student who is not already a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> shall become such by being matriculated<br />
before <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> term next after his or her election to <strong>the</strong> Studentship, provided that for good<br />
cause <strong>the</strong> Managers may allow a Student to defer matriculation until a later date.<br />
8. During <strong>the</strong> tenure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Studentship a Student shall undertake full-time study or research in<br />
Assyriology. The Managers may terminate a Studentship at any time if <strong>the</strong>y are not satisfied that <strong>the</strong><br />
Student is diligently pursuing his or her studies.<br />
9. The stipend <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Studentship shall be <strong>the</strong> annual net income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund, which shall be paid<br />
to <strong>the</strong> Student by quarterly instalments in advance.<br />
10. If at any time <strong>the</strong> Studentship is vacant, <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund for <strong>the</strong> period <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> vacancy<br />
shall be employed as follows: three-quarters <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be appropriated in aid <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Eric Yarrow Lectureship in Assyriology, and one quarter shall be available to <strong>the</strong><br />
Managers for <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> study and research in Assyriology generally.<br />
11. Any unexpended income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund in a financial year may in any subsequent year be expended<br />
on <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> study and research in Assyriology.<br />

EDITH MARY PRATT MUSGRAVE FUND<br />
1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £1,000, <strong>the</strong> benefaction <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late Edith Mary Pratt Musgrave, shall form a fund<br />
called <strong>the</strong> Edith Mary Pratt Musgrave Fund.<br />
2. The Fund shall be used for <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> research in <strong>the</strong> anatomy, physiology, or life-history<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Alcyonaria, corals, and related organisms.<br />
3. The administration <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be entrusted to <strong>the</strong> Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Balfour Fund.<br />
4. Subject to <strong>the</strong> provisions <strong>of</strong> Regulation 2 <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied from time to time, at <strong>the</strong><br />
discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers, and subject to such conditions as <strong>the</strong>y may think fit, for <strong>the</strong> following<br />
purposes:<br />
(a) to provide <strong>the</strong> emoluments <strong>of</strong> an Edith Mary Pratt Musgrave Research Studentship;<br />
(b) to make grants for research.<br />
5. Awards from <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be made only to graduates <strong>of</strong> universities <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> United Kingdom,<br />
British Dominions, and British Dependencies overseas, now working in or with <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Name.<br />
