appointed each year by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Economics Tripos, one by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for<br />

Part II <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Historical Tripos, and one by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Social and Political<br />

Sciences Tripos. 1<br />

3. At <strong>the</strong>ir final meeting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> year each <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Boards <strong>of</strong> Examiners for <strong>the</strong> Triposes referred to<br />

in Regulation 2 shall identify <strong>the</strong> one or two best dissertations submitted by candidates for <strong>the</strong> Part<br />

concerned. Each dissertation identified by <strong>the</strong> Examiners shall be referred to <strong>the</strong> Adjudicators, who<br />

shall award <strong>the</strong> Prize for <strong>the</strong> dissertation which in <strong>the</strong>ir opinion is most meritorious.<br />

GLAXO PHARMACOLOGY FUND<br />

1. The sum paid to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Glaxo Group Research Limited in accordance with <strong>the</strong><br />

agreement dated 17 February 1992 shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Glaxo Pharmacology Fund.<br />

2. The capital and <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied for <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> research in <strong>the</strong><br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Pharmacology, particularly but not exclusively in <strong>the</strong> fields <strong>of</strong> cardiovascular and gastrointestinal<br />

pharmacology, in such manner as may be approved by <strong>the</strong> General Board on <strong>the</strong> recommendation<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department.<br />

GLENNIE PRIZES IN CHILD PSYCHIATRY<br />

1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £3,000 donated to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Mrs E. M. Glennie, MBE, in memory <strong>of</strong> her<br />

husband Dr R. E. Glennie, first Consultant Child Psychiatrist to <strong>the</strong> United <strong>Cambridge</strong> Hospitals and<br />

East Anglian Regional Hospital Board, shall form a Fund for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> awarding annual prizes<br />

in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> child psychiatry.<br />

2. The Prizes shall be called <strong>the</strong> Glennie Prizes in Child Psychiatry.<br />

3. The Prizes shall be open to any member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> who is pursuing clinical study in<br />

<strong>Cambridge</strong> and is a candidate for <strong>the</strong> Final M.B. Examination.<br />

4. The Awarders <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prizes shall be <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> Lecturer in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (or <strong>the</strong>ir deputies). A first Prize and a second<br />

Prize shall be awarded for <strong>the</strong> best and <strong>the</strong> next best annotated case history <strong>of</strong> a child with a<br />

psychosomatic illness seen during <strong>the</strong> clinical course leading to <strong>the</strong> Final M.B. Examination.<br />

5. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> first Prize shall be two-thirds <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund for <strong>the</strong> financial year<br />

in which <strong>the</strong> award is made. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> second Prize shall be one-third <strong>of</strong> that income.<br />

6. In <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term <strong>of</strong> each year <strong>the</strong> Awarders shall publish a Notice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prizes to be<br />

awarded in <strong>the</strong> calendar year next but one, giving details <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> form in which <strong>the</strong> case reports should<br />

be presented, <strong>the</strong> particular areas <strong>of</strong> child psychiatry that may form <strong>the</strong> basis <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> reports, and <strong>the</strong><br />

dates by which and <strong>the</strong> person to whom <strong>the</strong> reports should be submitted.<br />

7. If in any year <strong>the</strong> second Prize or nei<strong>the</strong>r Prize is awarded, <strong>the</strong> unexpended income shall be<br />

added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

8. These regulations, o<strong>the</strong>r than Regulations 1 and 2 and this regulation, shall be subject to alteration<br />

by Grace.<br />

GOLDSMITHS’PRIZE AND MEDAL<br />

1. The sum made available annually by <strong>the</strong> Goldsmiths’ Company shall be used to provide a prize<br />

called <strong>the</strong> Goldsmiths’ Prize.<br />

2. The Prize shall be awarded by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Materials Science and Metallurgy in Part III <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Natural Sciences Tripos for a distinguished performance in that examination.<br />

3. The prize-winner shall also be awarded a silver medal provided by <strong>the</strong> Goldsmiths’ Company.<br />

GOLLAN FUND<br />

The sum received under <strong>the</strong> Will <strong>of</strong> Mr D. H. L. Gollan, <strong>of</strong> Trinity College, shall form a fund called<br />

<strong>the</strong> Gollan Fund, which shall be placed at <strong>the</strong> disposal <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Veterinary<br />

Medicine and shall be used to support <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> farm animals.<br />
