and its value reviewed, subject to a maximum tenure <strong>of</strong> three years.<br />
11. If <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> fund is materially augmented by <strong>the</strong> sale <strong>of</strong> published Prize essays beyond<br />
what is necessary to provide for <strong>the</strong> purposes specified in Regulations 6, 9, and 10 <strong>the</strong> Council may,<br />
on <strong>the</strong> advice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Finance Committee, authorize grants to be made from <strong>the</strong> excess to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />
Library or to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> Press.<br />
12. Clause 5 <strong>of</strong> Mr Sykes’s Will (as printed in Reporter, 1927–28, pp. 634–5) shall be appended to<br />
each essay which is published wholly or in part at <strong>the</strong> expense <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

Grace 1 <strong>of</strong> 1 December 2010<br />
1. The sums <strong>of</strong> up to £250,000 given anonymously to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> from 2010 onwards shall form<br />
a fund called <strong>the</strong> Crausaz Wordsworth Fund, which shall be used for <strong>the</strong> promotion and encouragement<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> philosophy in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Philosophy, who may delegate any or<br />
all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions under <strong>the</strong>se regulations to a committee not necessarily consisting wholly <strong>of</strong><br />
members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board.<br />
3. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used to provide awards known as Crausaz Wordsworth<br />
Studentships and Timothy Joyce Studentships in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Philosophy. The Studentships shall be<br />
open to any person who is or is about to be registered as a Graduate Student in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Holders<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Crausaz Wordsworth Studentships shall undertake research in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Philosophy leading<br />
to <strong>the</strong> award <strong>of</strong> a doctorate <strong>of</strong> Philosophy. Holders <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Timothy Joyce Studentships shall undertake<br />
advanced study in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Philosophy leading to <strong>the</strong> award <strong>of</strong> a Master’s Degree.<br />
4. A Crausaz Wordsworth Studentship shall be tenable for one year in <strong>the</strong> first instance, and may<br />
be renewed by <strong>the</strong> Managers for a second or third year, subject to satisfactory progress. A Timothy<br />
Joyce Studentship shall be tenable for one year.<br />
5. The value <strong>of</strong> a Studentship shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Managers within a range approved from<br />
time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />
6. After provision has been made, in accordance with <strong>the</strong> foregoing regulations, for at least one<br />
Crausaz Wordsworth Studentship and at least one Timothy Joyce Studentship, <strong>the</strong> balance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> annual<br />
income and any unexpended income accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be available to <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board<br />
<strong>of</strong> Philosophy to be used for <strong>the</strong> encouragement <strong>of</strong> study or research in Philosophy.<br />
7. Any unexpended income may be ei<strong>the</strong>r added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund or accumulated for use<br />
as income in subsequent years, as <strong>the</strong> Managers may determine.<br />
8. It shall be open to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>, on <strong>the</strong> recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Philosophy,<br />
to alter <strong>the</strong>se regulations from time to time, provided that <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be devoted to <strong>the</strong> encouragement<br />
<strong>of</strong> study or research in Philosophy.<br />

1. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Craven Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Classics.<br />
2. There shall be a Craven Studentship, which shall be for <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> research in <strong>the</strong><br />
language, literature, history, philosophy, archaeology, and art <strong>of</strong> ancient Greece and Rome, and <strong>the</strong><br />
comparative philology <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Indo-European languages.<br />
3. The holder <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Studentship shall undertake advanced study or research in one or more <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
subjects specified in Regulation 2, according to a scheme to be approved by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board. Such<br />
a scheme shall involve absence from <strong>Cambridge</strong> for not less than six months, unless <strong>the</strong> Board at <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
discretion waive this requirement.<br />
4. Candidature for <strong>the</strong> Studentship shall be open to any person who is or is about to be registered<br />
as a Graduate Student in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Classics in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Election to and tenure <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Studentship shall lapse if <strong>the</strong> person elected does not become or ceases to be a registered Graduate<br />
Student.
