SCHLUMBERGER COMPLEX PHYSICAL SYSTEMS FUND<br />

1. The sums received from Schlumberger Ltd for <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> work on multi-scale modelling shall<br />

form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Schlumberger Complex Physical Systems Fund.<br />

2. The Fund shall be under <strong>the</strong> control <strong>of</strong> a Board <strong>of</strong> Managers who shall be:<br />

(a) <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Applied Ma<strong>the</strong>matics and Theoretical Physics as Chairman;<br />

(b) three persons appointed by <strong>the</strong> General Board, one <strong>of</strong> whom shall be appointed on <strong>the</strong> nomination<br />

<strong>of</strong> Schlumberger <strong>Cambridge</strong> Research;<br />

(c) <strong>the</strong> Schlumberger Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Complex Physical Systems;<br />

(d) one person appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matics;<br />

(e) not more than two persons co-opted at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers.<br />

Managers in classes (b) and (d) shall be appointed in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term to serve for four years<br />

from 1 January following <strong>the</strong>ir appointment. Members in class (e) shall serve until 31 December <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> year in which <strong>the</strong>y are co-opted or <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following year, as <strong>the</strong> Managers shall decide at <strong>the</strong> time<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir co-optation.<br />

3. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> stipend, national insurance, pension<br />

contributions, and associated indirect costs payable by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> in respect <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Schlumberger<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Complex Physical Systems and <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> holders <strong>of</strong> such posts as may be established by <strong>the</strong><br />

General Board as a charge on <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

4. After provision has been made in accordance with Regulation 3, <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be<br />

applied at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers for <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> work in multi-scale modelling in <strong>the</strong><br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Applied Ma<strong>the</strong>matics and Theoretical Physics.<br />

5. Any unexpended income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund in a financial year may be ei<strong>the</strong>r added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Fund or accumulated for use as income in future years, as <strong>the</strong> Managers shall determine.<br />

1. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund subscribed by friends <strong>of</strong> James Scholefield, Regius Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Greek,<br />

who died in 1853, for <strong>the</strong> encouragement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> critical study <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Scriptures shall be used to<br />

provide prizes, which shall be called <strong>the</strong> Scholefield Prizes.<br />

2. There shall be one or more Junior Prizes and one or more Senior Prizes. The value <strong>of</strong> a Prize<br />

shall be such sum not exceeding <strong>the</strong> available income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund as may be determined from time to<br />

time by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Divinity with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Council. The Awarders shall be for <strong>the</strong><br />

Junior Prizes <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Parts IIA and IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Theological and Religious Studies Tripos, and<br />

<strong>the</strong> Advanced Diploma in Theology and Religious Studies, and for <strong>the</strong> Senior Prizes <strong>the</strong> Examiners<br />

for <strong>the</strong> Examination in Theology and Religious Studies for <strong>the</strong> M.Phil. Degree.<br />

3. The Junior Prizes shall be open to candidates for Parts IIA and IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Theological and<br />

Religious Studies Tripos and <strong>the</strong> Advanced Diploma in Theology and Religious Studies, and <strong>the</strong> Senior<br />

Prizes shall be open to candidates <strong>of</strong>fering a dissertation on <strong>the</strong> critical study <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Scriptures,<br />

including <strong>the</strong> New Testament in Greek, in <strong>the</strong> Examination in Theology and Religious Studies for <strong>the</strong><br />

M.Phil. Degree.<br />

4. In <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term <strong>of</strong> each year <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Divinity shall specify <strong>the</strong> number<br />

and <strong>the</strong> value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> prizes which <strong>the</strong>y intend to <strong>of</strong>fer, and <strong>the</strong> papers in each Part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tripos or in<br />

<strong>the</strong> examination for <strong>the</strong> Diploma on which <strong>the</strong> candidates’ knowledge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Holy Scriptures, including<br />

<strong>the</strong> New Testament in Greek, shall be tested.<br />

DR WILLIAM M. SCHOLL L ECTURESHIP FUND<br />

1. The sum <strong>of</strong> $1,500,000, to be received from <strong>the</strong> Scholl Foundation over a period <strong>of</strong> three years<br />

for <strong>the</strong> endowment <strong>of</strong> a <strong>University</strong> Lectureship in Neurology, entitled <strong>the</strong> Dr William M. Scholl<br />

Lectureship, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Dr William M. Scholl Lectureship Fund.<br />

2. The stipend, national insurance, and pension contributions payable by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> in respect<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dr William M. Scholl Lecturer in Neurology shall be payable from <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

3. If and when <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall exceed <strong>the</strong> amount required for <strong>the</strong> payment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

stipend, national insurance, pension contributions, and associated indirect costs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dr William<br />
