2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Law, who may delegate any or all <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong>ir functions under <strong>the</strong>se regulations to a committee consisting <strong>of</strong> not less than three persons, at least<br />
one <strong>of</strong> whom shall be a member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board.<br />
3. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> a prize called <strong>the</strong> John Hall<br />
Prize, which shall be awarded annually for distinction in Family Law shown by performance in that<br />
subject in Part IB or Part II <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Law Tripos.<br />
4. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Law<br />
within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />
5. After <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> John Hall Prize, <strong>the</strong> Managers shall have power to apply any unexpended<br />
income accumulated in <strong>the</strong> Fund:<br />
(a) to provide lectures or o<strong>the</strong>r teaching in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Law, supplementary to <strong>the</strong> teaching<br />
provided from <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> Education Fund;<br />
(b) to purchase books or o<strong>the</strong>r materials for <strong>the</strong> Squire Law Library;<br />
(c) to make grants or payments related to any o<strong>the</strong>r educational or academic purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />
<strong>of</strong> Law, and to attach to <strong>the</strong> award <strong>of</strong> any such grant or payment such conditions as <strong>the</strong>y may<br />
think fit.<br />

HALLAM FUND AND PRIZE<br />
1. The sums given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by George Hanley Hallam, M.A., sometime Craven Scholar<br />
and Fellow <strong>of</strong> St John’s College, shall be separately invested and shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Hallam<br />
Fund.<br />
2. There shall be established in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> an annual prize, called <strong>the</strong> Hallam Prize, which shall<br />
be used for travel in Italy, including a visit to Rome.<br />
3. The Prize shall be awarded annually by <strong>the</strong> Awarders for <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> Classical Scholarships,<br />
and upon <strong>the</strong> papers set for Part IB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Classical Tripos.<br />
4. The prize may be awarded toge<strong>the</strong>r with one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> aforesaid Scholarships. In accordance with<br />
Mr Hallam’s wish, women shall be eligible for <strong>the</strong> Prize.<br />
5. The amount <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be paid to <strong>the</strong> prize-winner, provided that an application through<br />
<strong>the</strong> Student’s Tutor has been submitted before <strong>the</strong> proposed travel has taken place.<br />
6. Except for grave cause approved by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Classics, travel shall take place not<br />
later than <strong>the</strong> Long Vacation next after <strong>the</strong> thirteenth term from <strong>the</strong> student’s first term <strong>of</strong> residence,<br />
and a brief report on <strong>the</strong> travel shall be sent to <strong>the</strong> Registrary, for communication to <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board,<br />
as soon as possible after <strong>the</strong> student’s return.<br />
7. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund for <strong>the</strong> financial year in which <strong>the</strong> award<br />
is made.<br />

HAMILTON PRIZE<br />
1. The money given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Mr J. W. O. Hamilton and accepted on 12 November 1937<br />
shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Hamilton Fund, supporting a prize for research into radio and o<strong>the</strong>r forms<br />
<strong>of</strong> communication using electromagnetic radiation which shall be called <strong>the</strong> Hamilton Prize, founded<br />
in honour <strong>of</strong> James Clark Maxwell, late Fellow <strong>of</strong> Trinity College and first Cavendish Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong><br />
Experimental Physics; with whose services to <strong>the</strong> science <strong>of</strong> wireless communication <strong>the</strong> donor has<br />
associated <strong>the</strong> names <strong>of</strong> Sir John Ambrose Fleming, M.A., Honorary Fellow <strong>of</strong> St John’s College, and<br />
Sir Oliver Joseph Lodge, Hon. Sc.D. <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
2. The Prize shall be <strong>of</strong>fered for competition in every year, and shall consist <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Fund for <strong>the</strong> financial year preceding, after payment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Examiners’ fees.<br />
3. The Prize shall be awarded for <strong>the</strong> best report embodying research carried out in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />
on <strong>the</strong> <strong>the</strong>ory or practice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> physics or engineering <strong>of</strong> any aspect <strong>of</strong> communication, propagation,<br />
or signal processing, associated with electromagnetic radiation or wave propagation. A report shall not<br />
exceed 5,000 words in length, excluding any appendices.<br />
4. Members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> who are or have been Graduate Students shall be eligible to compete<br />
for <strong>the</strong> prize, provided that:<br />
(a) not more than twelve terms <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir course <strong>of</strong> research have been completed since admission as<br />
a Graduate Student;
