Grace 1 <strong>of</strong> 28 October 2009<br />
1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £8,000 received from Dr Nikos Theocarakis, shall form a fund, <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> which<br />
shall be used to provide a prize called <strong>the</strong> Ca<strong>the</strong>rine Grigoriou-Theocarakis Prize for Excellence in<br />
Modern Greek Studies.<br />
2. The Prize shall be awarded by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for <strong>the</strong> Modern and Medieval Languages Tripos to<br />
<strong>the</strong> candidate who achieves <strong>the</strong> best overall result in Part IB or Part II <strong>of</strong> that Tripos, having taken one<br />
or more papers in Modern Greek.<br />
3. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be <strong>the</strong> annual income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />
4. If in any year <strong>the</strong> Prize is not awarded, <strong>the</strong> income for that year shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong><br />

GRIMSHAW-PARKINSON FUND<br />
1. The investments representing that portion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> residuary estate <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late John Grimshaw<br />
wherein Sir John Parkinson released his life interest in favour <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Deed <strong>of</strong> Partition<br />
dated 2 August 1961 shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Grimshaw-Parkinson Fund.<br />
2. The regulations for <strong>the</strong> Fund which follow this regulation are based on directions contained in a<br />
codicil to <strong>the</strong> Will <strong>of</strong> Sir John Parkinson and which in accordance with <strong>the</strong> terms <strong>of</strong> that codicil may<br />
be altered by Grace on <strong>the</strong> recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers in order to conform with <strong>the</strong> changing<br />
nature <strong>of</strong> medical practice and scientific investigation; provided always that <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> shall adhere<br />
to <strong>the</strong> object <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> bequest as described in <strong>the</strong> following extract from <strong>the</strong> Will <strong>of</strong> John Grimshaw,<br />
that is to say ‘fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> scientific education and/or scientific research <strong>of</strong> a character preferably but<br />
not necessarily medical and ei<strong>the</strong>r by <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> a scholarship or scholarships (resident or<br />
travelling) <strong>the</strong> establishment <strong>of</strong> a laboratory <strong>the</strong> purchase <strong>of</strong> instruments or apparatus or o<strong>the</strong>rwise’.<br />
3. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be:<br />
(a) <strong>the</strong> Regius Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Physic;<br />
(b) a person appointed by <strong>the</strong> Vice-Chancellor;<br />
(c) <strong>the</strong> President for <strong>the</strong> time being <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> British Cardiac Society or a deputy appointed by <strong>the</strong><br />
President;<br />
(d) any o<strong>the</strong>r persons who may be appointed from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Clinical<br />
Medicine.<br />
4. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied to maintain one or more Grimshaw-Parkinson Studentships.<br />
It shall be <strong>the</strong> duty <strong>of</strong> a Grimshaw-Parkinson Student, under <strong>the</strong> general supervision <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers,<br />
to engage in research in <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> diseases <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> heart and circulation preferably with a view to<br />
treatment.<br />
5. The Student shall be a registered medical practitioner or <strong>the</strong> holder <strong>of</strong> a medical degree, British<br />
or foreign, approved by <strong>the</strong> Managers, without restriction on nationality or sex.<br />

G. C. GRINDLEY FUND<br />
1. The bequest <strong>of</strong> G. C. Grindley, M.A., formerly Fellow <strong>of</strong> <strong>University</strong> (now Wolfson) College,<br />
shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> G. C. Grindley Fund <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> which shall be used in accordance<br />
with <strong>the</strong> terms <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Will <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> benefactor for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> research into behaviour and its relation<br />
to mental processes and underlying physiological mechanisms.<br />
2. The Fund shall be administered by three Managers who shall be <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Experimental<br />
Psychology and two o<strong>the</strong>r persons appointed in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term, one by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong><br />
Biology and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r by <strong>the</strong> Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Biological Sciences, each to serve for three<br />
years from 1 January following.
