(b) to decide on <strong>the</strong> future use <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund if <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> should cease to be able to make<br />
provision for Islamic Studies in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Divinity.<br />
5. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be payment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> stipend, national insurance,<br />
pension contributions, and associated indirect costs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> holder <strong>of</strong> a <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice in <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />
<strong>of</strong> Divinity concerned with teaching or research in Islamic Studies. In making appointments to such<br />
an <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>the</strong> appointing body shall be advised by an Assessor appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong><br />
Divinity after consulting <strong>the</strong> Managers.<br />
6. After provision has been made in accordance with Regulation 5, any unexpended income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Fund may be applied by <strong>the</strong> Managers at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion for <strong>the</strong> advancement <strong>of</strong> Islamic Studies in<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>.<br />
7. These regulations may be amended by Grace, subject to <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Oakhill Group Ltd.<br />

WILLIAM HARVEY FUND<br />
1. The moneys donated and covenanted by graduates <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> in Medicine shall form a<br />
fund to be called <strong>the</strong> William Harvey Fund. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund but not <strong>the</strong> capital shall be applied<br />
at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers, subject to any direction by <strong>the</strong> donors, for any <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following or<br />
similar purposes; making grants or loans to clinical medical students in cases <strong>of</strong> hardship; <strong>the</strong> purchase<br />
<strong>of</strong> special acquisitions for <strong>the</strong> Medical Library; <strong>the</strong> endowment <strong>of</strong> prizes, studentships, and scholarships;<br />
<strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> sports facilities and amenities for clinical medical students.<br />
2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Regius Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Physic, <strong>the</strong> Director <strong>of</strong> Medical<br />
Education, and two persons appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas<br />
Term to serve for a period <strong>of</strong> four years from 1 January following <strong>the</strong> appointment. The Secretary <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine shall act as Secretary to <strong>the</strong> Managers. At least once in every<br />
academical year <strong>the</strong> Managers shall consult <strong>the</strong> appropriate representatives <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> clinical students<br />
concerning <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> funds for sports facilities and amenities and shall consider any proposals<br />
made by <strong>the</strong>m on behalf <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> clinical student body.<br />
3. The Managers shall be empowered to receive donations, subscriptions, and o<strong>the</strong>r benefactions for<br />
<strong>the</strong> augmentation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> capital or income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund as <strong>the</strong> Managers, in <strong>the</strong> absence <strong>of</strong> any direction<br />
by a donor, may decide.<br />
4. Any unexpended income at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> a financial year shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

William Harvey Studentships in Clinical Medicine<br />
1. A sum to be determined in <strong>the</strong> Michaelmas Term each year by <strong>the</strong> Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> William<br />
Harvey Fund shall be set aside for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> awarding annually a number <strong>of</strong> William Harvey<br />
Studentships in Clinical Medicine. The number and value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Studentships shall be at <strong>the</strong> discretion<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Awarders within <strong>the</strong> total sum available. One <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Studentships shall be called <strong>the</strong> ‘<strong>Cambridge</strong><br />
Medical Graduates’ Fund Studentship’, three <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Studentships shall be called <strong>the</strong> ‘Werner Jacobson<br />
Halley Stewart Scholarships’, and one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Studentships shall be called <strong>the</strong> ‘Duncan Roland<br />
Studentship’.<br />
2. The Awarders <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Studentships shall be <strong>the</strong> Regius Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Physic and <strong>the</strong> Director <strong>of</strong><br />
Medical Education or <strong>the</strong>ir deputies appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine.<br />
3. A William Harvey Studentship may be awarded to any student pursuing a course <strong>of</strong> clinical<br />
instruction in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> leading to <strong>the</strong> degrees <strong>of</strong> Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Medicine and Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Surgery.<br />
Werner Jacobson Halley Stewart Scholarships shall be awarded to students who are pursuing <strong>the</strong> M.B./<br />
Ph.D. course.<br />
4. The Studentships shall normally be awarded in <strong>the</strong> Easter Term.<br />

SYLVIA H ASLAM PRIZE IN ECOLOGY<br />
1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £2,000 given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Dr Sylvia Haslam, M.A., Ph.D., Sc.D., <strong>of</strong> Newnham<br />
College, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Sylvia Haslam Prize Fund, which shall be used to provide a prize<br />
called <strong>the</strong> Sylvia Haslam Prize in Ecology.<br />
2. The Prize shall be awarded annually by <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Plant Sciences, <strong>the</strong><br />
Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Plant Ecology, and <strong>the</strong> Examiners for <strong>the</strong> subject Plant Sciences in Part II <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Natural
