Honorarium.<br />
4. The honorarium paid to <strong>the</strong> Lecturer shall be such sum as shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Faculty<br />
Board within a range approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council. In addition <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board may<br />
at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion defray from <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund any expenses <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lecturer and any o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
expenses incurred in connection with <strong>the</strong> lectures.<br />

CHURCHILL PROFESSORSHIP OF MATHEMATICS FOR OPERATIONAL RESEARCH FUND<br />
1. The sums received from <strong>the</strong> Esso Petroleum Company Limited for <strong>the</strong> endowment <strong>of</strong> a Pr<strong>of</strong>essorship<br />
<strong>of</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matics for Operational Research, in memory <strong>of</strong> Sir Winston Spencer Churchill, shall form a<br />
fund called <strong>the</strong> Churchill Pr<strong>of</strong>essorship <strong>of</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matics for Operational Research Fund.<br />
2. The Fund shall be administered by three Managers appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matics,<br />
who shall include <strong>the</strong> Director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Statistical Laboratory, <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Pure<br />
Ma<strong>the</strong>matics and Ma<strong>the</strong>matical Statistics, and <strong>the</strong> Churchill Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matics for Operational<br />
Research.<br />
3. The first charge on <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> stipend, national insurance, and pension<br />
contributions <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Churchill Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Ma<strong>the</strong>matics for Operational Research payable by <strong>the</strong><br />
<strong>University</strong>.<br />
4. After provision has been made in accordance with Regulation 3, and after provision has also<br />
been made, in any year in which <strong>the</strong> election <strong>of</strong> a Pr<strong>of</strong>essor is held, to meet <strong>the</strong> expenses incurred in<br />
holding <strong>the</strong> election, <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied for <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> teaching or research<br />
in <strong>the</strong> Statistical Laboratory <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Pure Ma<strong>the</strong>matics and Ma<strong>the</strong>matical Statistics in<br />
such manner as shall be approved by <strong>the</strong> General Board on <strong>the</strong> recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers.<br />
5. Any unexpended income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund in a financial year may be expended in a subsequent year<br />
in accordance with Regulation 4.<br />

General<br />
1. The moneys given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by <strong>the</strong> Institution <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers shall form a fund called<br />
<strong>the</strong> Civil Engineers Fund, <strong>the</strong> first charge on which shall be <strong>the</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> prizes as follows:<br />
(a) one Institution <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers Prize for Management Studies;<br />
(b) one Institution <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers Roscoe Prize for Soil Mechanics;<br />
(c) three Institution <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers Baker Prizes for distinction in any subject <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Engineering<br />
Tripos.<br />
The Prizes shall be awarded in accordance with <strong>the</strong> following special regulations.<br />
2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Engineering.<br />
3. After provision has been made for <strong>the</strong> Prizes in accordance with <strong>the</strong> following special regulations,<br />
<strong>the</strong> balance <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be available to <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Engineering<br />
to use in such manner as he or she shall from time to time determine for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> fostering<br />
among engineers <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> economics <strong>of</strong> engineering projects, <strong>the</strong> organization and management<br />
<strong>of</strong> engineering works, and <strong>the</strong> relations <strong>of</strong> aes<strong>the</strong>tic considerations to engineering design and construction.<br />
Institution <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers Prize for Management Studies<br />
1. The Institution <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers Prize for Management Studies shall be awarded each year by<br />
<strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Engineering Tripos to a candidate who achieves distinction in<br />
management studies in that examination.<br />
2. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be determined from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Engineering<br />
with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />
Civil Engineers Roscoe Prize for Soil Mechanics<br />
1. The Institution <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers Roscoe Prize for Soil Mechanics shall be awarded each year<br />
by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part IIB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Engineering Tripos to a candidate who achieves distinction in <strong>the</strong><br />
field <strong>of</strong> soil mechanics in that examination.<br />
2. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Prize shall be determined from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Engineering<br />
with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Council.
