CHEMISTRY NEXT GENERATION FUND<br />
1. The sums received from <strong>the</strong> Walters Kundert Charitable Trust and from Dr Philip Joseph Brown<br />
for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> supporting research in any field <strong>of</strong> chemistry by persons <strong>of</strong> any age who are at an<br />
early stage <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir academic careers in <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Chemistry shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong><br />
Chemistry Next Generation Fund, which shall be used for that purpose. The Fund may include o<strong>the</strong>r<br />
sums received from o<strong>the</strong>r bodies or persons for <strong>the</strong> same purpose.<br />
2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Chemistry, <strong>the</strong> Ge<strong>of</strong>frey<br />
Moorhouse Gibson Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Chemistry, <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Physical Chemistry (1920), <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />
<strong>of</strong> Chemistry (1968), and <strong>the</strong> BP Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Chemistry (1702). If one Manager is both <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong><br />
Department <strong>of</strong> Chemistry and one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essors named above, <strong>the</strong>n in <strong>the</strong> event <strong>of</strong> a tied decision,<br />
that Manager will have a casting vote.<br />
3. The capital and income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used to provide unrestricted grants <strong>of</strong> £50,000 a<br />
year (or such lesser amount as <strong>the</strong> Managers may in <strong>the</strong>ir discretion award) to support <strong>the</strong> research in<br />
<strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Chemistry <strong>of</strong> one or more Next Generation Fellows. The Managers shall determine<br />
<strong>the</strong> tenure <strong>of</strong> each Fellowship and may extend such tenure for one or more years provided that <strong>the</strong><br />
maximum period <strong>of</strong> tenure shall be five years. In <strong>the</strong> event that any Next Generation Fellow ceases to<br />
be an employee <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>, his or her Next Generation Fellowship shall cease and any<br />
accompanying grant will also be terminated.<br />
4. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be responsible for awarding Next Generation Fellowships. The<br />
titles <strong>of</strong> Fellowships awarded by <strong>the</strong> Managers may at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers include reference<br />
to <strong>the</strong> names <strong>of</strong> persons or bodies which have contributed to <strong>the</strong> Fund, save that <strong>the</strong> Fellowships<br />
awarded shall include at least one Walters Kundert Next Generation Fellowship and at least one Philip<br />
and Patricia Brown Next Generation Fellowship.<br />
5. Any unexpended income in a financial year may be accumulated and expended in any one or<br />
more subsequent years in accordance with Regulation 3.<br />
CHILDREN’S KIDNEY CARE FUND<br />

Grace 1 <strong>of</strong> 27 October 2010<br />
1. The sums donated for <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> research into <strong>the</strong> prevention, diagnosis or treatment <strong>of</strong><br />
children’s urological and related disorders, and o<strong>the</strong>r sums donated for <strong>the</strong> same purpose, shall form a<br />
fund to be known as <strong>the</strong> Children’s Kidney Care Fund.<br />
2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be:<br />
(a) <strong>the</strong> Regius Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Physic;<br />
(b) <strong>the</strong> Director <strong>of</strong> Medical Education in <strong>the</strong> Clinical School;<br />
(c) three persons appointed by <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine.<br />
Managers in class (c) shall be appointed for a term <strong>of</strong> three years. The Secretary <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board<br />
<strong>of</strong> Clinical Medicine shall act as Secretary to <strong>the</strong> Managers.<br />
3. The Managers may at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion make grants from <strong>the</strong> Fund from both capital and income<br />
to any person engaged in research into <strong>the</strong> prevention, diagnosis or treatment <strong>of</strong> children’s urological<br />
and related disorders in East Anglia.<br />
4. The Managers may at <strong>the</strong>ir discretion seek <strong>the</strong> advice <strong>of</strong> independent assessors concerning <strong>the</strong><br />
merits <strong>of</strong> an application to <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />
5. No resolution <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Managers shall be valid unless approved by at least three members at a<br />
meeting to which all <strong>the</strong> members have been summoned, provided that a resolution signed by all <strong>the</strong><br />
members shall have <strong>the</strong> same validity as a resolution carried at a meeting.<br />
6. Any unexpended income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund may be ei<strong>the</strong>r added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund or accumulated<br />
for use as income in future years, as <strong>the</strong> Managers may determine.<br />

CHINESE STUDIES FUND<br />
1. The moneys donated to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> for <strong>the</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>rance <strong>of</strong> Chinese Studies shall form a fund<br />
called <strong>the</strong> Chinese Studies Fund.<br />
2. The Fund shall be managed by <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> East Asian Studies in consultation<br />
with and with <strong>the</strong> agreement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> teaching <strong>of</strong>ficers in Chinese in <strong>the</strong> Department.
