in accordance with Regulation 3 or added to <strong>the</strong> permanent capital as <strong>the</strong> Managers shall determine.<br />

WACE MEDAL<br />

The Wace Medal, which was established as a memorial to <strong>the</strong> late A. J. B. Wace, Laurence Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

<strong>of</strong> Classical Archaeology from 1934 to 1944, shall be awarded each year by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part II<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Classical Tripos for a distinguished performance in Classical Archaeology in that examination.<br />

In any year in which no award is made by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for Part II <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Classical Tripos, <strong>the</strong> Degree<br />

Committee for <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Classics may award <strong>the</strong> Medal, after taking account <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> reports <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Examiners on <strong>the</strong> performance <strong>of</strong> candidates in <strong>the</strong> examination in Classics for <strong>the</strong> M.Phil. Degree<br />

(one-year course), to <strong>the</strong> candidate who in that examination has submitted <strong>the</strong> best <strong>the</strong>sis on a subject<br />

which in <strong>the</strong> judgement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Degree Committee is to be regarded as a subject in Classical Archaeology.<br />

No person shall be awarded <strong>the</strong> Medal more than once.<br />

E. C. S. WADE PRIZES<br />

1. The sums given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by J. W. N. Petty, M.A., LL.M., <strong>of</strong> Gonville and Caius and<br />

Wolfson Colleges, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> E. C. S. Wade Prizes Fund, in memory <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> late<br />

Emlyn Capel Stewart Wade, LL.D., Fellow <strong>of</strong> Gonville and Caius College, formerly Downing Pr<strong>of</strong>essor<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Laws <strong>of</strong> England.<br />

2. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used to provide two prizes, called <strong>the</strong> E. C. S. Wade Prize in<br />

Constitutional Law and <strong>the</strong> E. C. S. Wade Prize in Administrative Law. The Prize in Constitutional<br />

Law shall be awarded for distinguished pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in that subject shown by a candidate for Part IA<br />

or Part IB <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Law Tripos. The Prize in Administrative Law shall be awarded for distinguished<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>iciency in that subject shown by a candidate for Part IB or Part II <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Law Tripos.<br />

3. The value <strong>of</strong> each Prize shall be half <strong>the</strong> annual income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

4. If in any year ei<strong>the</strong>r Prize is not awarded, <strong>the</strong> unexpended income shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

SIR WILLIAM WADE PRIZE FOR CIVIL LIBERTIES AND HUMAN RIGHTS<br />

Grace 4 <strong>of</strong> 7 March 2012<br />

1. The sum <strong>of</strong> £20,000 bequea<strong>the</strong>d by Mr Joseph Petty shall form a fund called The Sir William<br />

Wade Fund in memory <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Sir William Wade.<br />

2. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used to provide a prize called The Sir William Wade Prize to<br />

be awarded annually by <strong>the</strong> Examiners for <strong>the</strong> LL.M. Examination to <strong>the</strong> candidate who has shown<br />

<strong>the</strong> greatest distinction in Civil Liberties and Human Rights in that subject in <strong>the</strong> LL.M. Examination<br />

provided a candidate <strong>of</strong> sufficient merit presents his or her self.<br />

3. The value <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> prize, provided <strong>the</strong>re is a candidate <strong>of</strong> sufficient merit, shall be divided between<br />

<strong>the</strong> prize-winner and <strong>the</strong> Squire Law Library.<br />

4. If, in any year, <strong>the</strong> Prize is not awarded, <strong>the</strong> unexpended income shall be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Fund.<br />

WAKEFIELD BOOK FUND FOR CRIMINOLOGY<br />

1. The sum given to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> by Mrs Priscilla Mitchell (née Wakefield) for <strong>the</strong> encouragement<br />

<strong>of</strong> teaching and research in Criminology shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Wakefield Book Fund for<br />

Criminology.<br />

2. The income <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Committee <strong>of</strong> Management <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Institute <strong>of</strong> Criminology to purchase books and o<strong>the</strong>r materials for <strong>the</strong> Radzinowicz Library <strong>of</strong><br />

Criminology within <strong>the</strong> Institute.<br />

3. At <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Committee <strong>of</strong> Management, any unexpended income in <strong>the</strong> Fund may be<br />

ei<strong>the</strong>r added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund or accumulated for use as income in a subsequent year.<br />
