2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Faculty Board <strong>of</strong> Economics, who may delegate any or<br />
all <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir functions under <strong>the</strong>se regulations to a committee not necessarily consisting wholly <strong>of</strong><br />
members <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Board.<br />
3. The income and <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be used to provide awards known as Richard Kahn<br />
Research Studentships and Teaching Assistantships in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Economics, which shall be open<br />
to any person who is or is about to be registered as a Graduate Student in <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong>, provided<br />
that, in accordance with <strong>the</strong> wishes <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> benefactor, if two or more candidates are equally well<br />
qualified, preference shall be given to a candidate who is a citizen <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> United States <strong>of</strong> America.<br />
Holders <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> awards shall undertake advanced study or research in <strong>the</strong> Faculty <strong>of</strong> Economics;<br />
Teaching Assistants shall in addition undertake such teaching as may be assigned to <strong>the</strong>m by <strong>the</strong><br />
Faculty Board.<br />
4. An award shall be tenable for one year in <strong>the</strong> first instance, and may be renewed by <strong>the</strong> Managers<br />
for a second or third year.<br />
5. The emolument paid to an award holder shall be determined by <strong>the</strong> Managers within a range<br />
approved from time to time by <strong>the</strong> Council.<br />
6. Any unexpended income may be ei<strong>the</strong>r added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund or accumulated for use<br />
as income in subsequent years, as <strong>the</strong> Managers may determine.<br />

KANTHACK FUND<br />
The sums accepted by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> in memory <strong>of</strong> Alfredo Antunes Kanthack, M.A., one time Fellow<br />
<strong>of</strong> King’s College and Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> Pathology, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> Kanthack Fund, <strong>the</strong> income<br />
<strong>of</strong> which shall be used for <strong>the</strong> benefit <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Pathology.<br />

KAPLANOFF FUND<br />
1. The sum bequea<strong>the</strong>d to <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> for <strong>the</strong> sole benefit <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> Library by Mark<br />
D. Kaplan<strong>of</strong>f, M.A., Ph.D., <strong>University</strong> Lecturer in History and Fellow <strong>of</strong> Pembroke College, shall form<br />
a fund called <strong>the</strong> Kaplan<strong>of</strong>f Fund.<br />
2. The income, and in exceptional cases <strong>the</strong> capital, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be applied at <strong>the</strong> discretion<br />
<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Library Syndicate for <strong>the</strong> purchase <strong>of</strong> materials for <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> Library to support <strong>the</strong> study<br />
<strong>of</strong> American history.<br />
3. Unexpended income may at <strong>the</strong> discretion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Syndicate ei<strong>the</strong>r be added to <strong>the</strong> capital <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

KAUST FUND FOR BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES<br />
Grace 2 <strong>of</strong> 16 May 2012<br />
1. The benefaction from KAUST UK Ltd to support work in <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Biological Sciences,<br />
with a preference for biosciences and bioengineering, shall form a fund called <strong>the</strong> KAUST Fund for<br />
Biological Sciences.<br />
2. The Managers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fund shall be <strong>the</strong> Head <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Biological Sciences and two<br />
o<strong>the</strong>r Managers appointed by <strong>the</strong> Council <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Biological Sciences for periods <strong>of</strong> five<br />
years.<br />
3. The Fund shall be applied for <strong>the</strong> following purposes in <strong>the</strong> School on <strong>the</strong> recommendation <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> Managers and with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> General Board:<br />
(a) <strong>the</strong> payment <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> stipend, national insurance, pension contributions, and associated indirect<br />
costs <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> holders <strong>of</strong> such <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong>fices as may be designated or established from time to<br />
time by <strong>the</strong> <strong>University</strong> or <strong>the</strong> General Board as a charge on <strong>the</strong> Fund,<br />
(b) <strong>the</strong> funding <strong>of</strong> Ph.D. Studentships in <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Biological Sciences with a preference for<br />
bioscience and bioengineering,<br />
(c) o<strong>the</strong>r purposes in <strong>the</strong> School <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Biological Sciences with a preference for <strong>the</strong> fields <strong>of</strong><br />
bioscience and bioengineering.<br />
4. In exceptional circumstances <strong>the</strong> capital may also be spent, on <strong>the</strong> recommendation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Managers and with <strong>the</strong> approval <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> General Board, for <strong>the</strong> purposes outlined in Regulation 3.<br />
