ที่เป็นไม้ฉลุลายแต่อย่างใด
รูปแบบทางสถาปัตยกรรมที่มีลักษณะเฉพาะตัวของ
กลุ่มบ้าน “Gingerbread House” ที่ Port - au - Prince
นี้เองต่อมาได้กลายเป็นกระแสความสนใจในระดับสากล
เกี่ยวกับการอนุรักษ์บ้านดังกล่าว โดยที่ได้มีการตีพิมพ์

built around 1900 (towards the end of Rama V’s reign)
and designed by Haitian architects who were educated in
France, such as Léon Mathon, who studied at the École
des Beaux Arts in Paris around 1895, for example.
The houses are generally two or three storeys high
and constructed of timber or bricks, or a combination of
both. Maison Dufort, built in 1910 for example, had the
lower level built of bricks while the upper level was that
of the half-timber construction. The outstanding features
of this style are the high roofs that have peculiar shapes
and forms such as the pointed dome for example, the
decorative timber details with geometric patterns or
perforated sawn-timber work, and sometimes there is also
a turret attached to the building. The exteriors are painted
with eye-catching colors such as pink with green trimming
or yellow with white for example. Thus it is apparent that
Americans used the word “Gingerbread House” as a
metaphor to convey the image of this architectural style

เป็นวงกว้างจนกระทั่งปัจจุบัน (พ.ศ. 2561) เป็นที่
ยอมรับและนำมาใช้กันในระดับสากลทั้งในแวดวงวิชาชีพ
สถาปัตยกรรมและในแวดวงวิชาการสถาปัตยกรรม
in general, and does not refer specifically to only those
with perforated sawn-timber decorations, because not all
of them have this particular type of ornamentation.
The Gingerbread Houses in the style unique to Portau-Prince
later received international attention from those
who thought that they should be preserved while books
and articles have been published on the subject as in the
