บ้านเรือนถิ่นไทยในช่วงเจ็ดทศวรรษ 2489-2559

ดร.กรวิศฎ์ : ที่นี่พอวันเวลาผ่านไป โดยสัจธรรมแล้วนะก็เริ่ม
รู้สึกบ้านจะเล็กไปนิดนึง แต่จริงๆ คือใหญ่ จริงๆ แล้วท่าน
บอกว่าหลังคาขยับไปได้อีกเมตรกว่าๆ ก็จะได้บ้านหลังใหญ่
ตอนนั้นสร้างประมาณ 3 ล้าน รวมทุกอย่างยกเว้นจัดสวน 3
ล้านเมื่อประมาณปี 2516-2518 ระหว่างนั้นก็มีรีโนเวทนิดๆ
หน่อย ก็รวมแล้วประมาณ 4 ล้าน ปรับปรุงน้อยมาก ส่วนมาก
เป็นการทาสีซ่อมแซม
อาจารย์สัณฐิตา : คุณพ่อก็ประดับสวน สวยเลยค่ะ ตอนแรก
ที่บ้านและสวนมาถ่ายเอาลงในหนังสือ แต่ต่อมาคุณพ่อก็ชอบ
ให้เป็นแบบธรรมชาติต้นไม้ก็เลยโตครึ้มเลย ก็เลยปล่อยให้เป็น
ป่าไปเลย
ดร.กรวิศฎ์ : ตอนนี้กลายเป็นป่าเสื่อมโทรม แต่ตอนนั้นครึ้ม
กว่านี้สิบเท่า มีไม้ชั้นบนไม้ชั้นล่างแบบป่า แกนใหญ่ก็อาจจะมี
ต้นยาง ต้นอินจัน ต้นประดู่ ต้นปีบอะไรพวกนี้ มีเฟิร์นเป็นไม้
คลุมดิน ส่วนใหญ่ท่านจะชอบป่า แต่ตอนหลังมันก็ตายไปตาม
กาลเวลา พวกใบไม้เราก็กวาดแต่กวาดไม่ไหว ท่านก็เลยบอก
ให้ใบไม้มันกลายเป็นปุ๋ยไปตามธรรมชาติ บ้านจะดูดีในช่วง
20 ปีแรก จากนั้นท่านก็ภารกิจมาก ข้าวของก็มากขึ้น ตอนหลัง
ท่านก็พูดว่าบ้านเล็กไปหน่อย เพราะตอนเราอายุเยอะเรา
ใช้ชีวิตอยู่แต่ในห้องนอน เพราะฉะนั้นผมคิดว่าคอนเซ็ปต์
ห้องนอนใหญ่ยังเป็นเรื่องจำเป็น
My father said the roof can be extended about a meter
and the house would feel much larger. Construction cost
at the time (1973-1975) was about 3 million including
landscaping. We did some minor renovations afterwards.
Just repainting and stuff. So all in all the total budget
is about 4 million.
Santita : He decorated the garden beautifully. A famous
magazine even came to take photographs. But later he
liked it more natural so he let all the trees grow wild.
Dr.Koravisd : Right now it looks like a degraded forest.
But back then it was almost a real forest. There were
big tall trees, bushes and shrubs. He liked it very thick
and dense, like a forest. But those trees died off with
time. Dry leaves piled up so much that it was impossible
to keep clean. So he left them rotting on the ground as
fertilizer. The house looked good for the first 20 years.
After that he was very busy. And our family had more
and more things. Eventually he said that the house may
be a bit too small because when we’re older, we spend

ดร.กรวิศฎ์ : ดูไม่ได้เลยครับ คือผมใกล้เกษียณแล้ว ผมจะมี
รายได้พิเศษผมคิดว่าผมจะรีโนเวทบ้านทั้งหลังเลยโดยใช้คอน
เซ็ปต์คุณพ่อเหมือนเดิม บูรณะขึ้นมาใหม่ อาจจะใช้เวลาไม่
ถึง 10 ปีข้างหน้า จะค่อยๆ เปลี่ยนทีละส่วนจะพยายามรักษา
คอนเซ็ปต์เดิมไว้ เปลี่ยนให้น้อยที่สุด
อาจารย์กิจโชติ: เดิมอาจารย์วทัญญูได้ออกแบบส่วนใต้ถุนไว้
อยู่แล้วใช่มั้ยครับ
ดร.กรวิศฎ์ : คือท่านยึดหลักว่าแผ่นดินมันจะทรุดปีนึงประมาณ
3-4 เซนติเมตรโดยประมาณ ท่านก็คำนวณเลยว่าในระยะเวลา
10-30 ปีข้างหน้าจะทรุดเท่าไหร่ เพราฉะนั้นพื้นข้างบนเนี่ย
จะสูงจากระดับประมาณ 2.40 เมตร สูงลอยละลิ่วเลย ที่นี่พอ
เวลาผ่านไปด้วยบ้านมันวางอยู่บนคานมันก็ค่อยๆ ลงตามกาล
เวลา ก็ปรากฏว่าอาจารย์จะเห็นว่าลานก็ยังสูงอยู่ เพราะฉะนั้น
ถึงแม้ช่วงที่น้ำท่วมปี 54 ยังดีแค่ปริ่มๆ ด้านล่าง แต่ข้างล่าง
ท่านใช้ดินมากลบทำเป็นกำแพงกั้นตามแนวบ้าน แต่ก็มีคูน้ำ
ล้อมรอบเพื่อสูบน้ำออกเวลาท่วมบ้าน ผมก็กั้นเป็นห้องเพาะ
เลี้ยงเนื้อเยื่อแต่ทำอยู่ได้สัก 2 ปี มันเริ่มทรุด ผมก็เลยเลิก
ชั่วคราว แต่ในอนาคตถ้าเกิดผมเกษียณแล้วอาจจะทำเป็น
ห้องทำงานข้างล่าง
a lot of time in the bedroom. For me, big bedroom is
still necessary.
Quijxote: I understand that you’re thinking of renovating
the basement.
Dr.Koravisd : It’s in a very bad shape. I’m getting a
large sum of money from my retirement soon so I’m
thinking of renovating the whole house. I want to do it
my father’s way. And within the next ten years, I plan to
slowly fix up each part and keep the content the same
as much as possible.
Quijxote: Dr.Watanyu also designed the basement in
the beginning?
Dr.Koravisd : He figured that land was going to subside
for 3-4 centimeters per year. So he calculated how much
land was going to sink within the next 10-30 years. That’s
why the floor is 240 centimeters higher than normal level.
But as the house got older, the beam started to droop
down. Fortunately, the house was still quite high and
