การปลูกเรือนไทยยกใต้ถุนสูงในสมัยรัชกาลที่5 ราวปีพ.ศ. 2430 เป็นต้นมา เพื่อแสดงความเป็นผู้เจริญและแสดงความทันสมัย

Windsor House in European style: Two-storeyed timber house with decorative sawn-timber work. Commoners
began building two-storeyed timber houses in Western style instead of the traditional stilted houses during
the period of Rama V or around 1887 onwards to show sophistication by imitating the upper class
way of living while the most popular style was that which had sawn-timber decorations.
