ระบายน้ำได้มากขึ้น เร็วขึ้น มีรอยต่อที่ทำให้น้ำรั่วซึม
ลดลงอย่างมาก ส่งผลให้สามารถมุงหลังคาได้ลาดน้อย
ที่สุดเพียง 15 องศา กระเบื้องหลังคาแผ่นซีเมนต์ใยหิน
มีรูปแบบและขนาดของลอนอยู่สามชนิดที่แพร่หลาย
เรียกกันว่า กระเบื้องลอนคู่ กระเบื้องลอนใหญ่ และ
กระเบื้องลอนเล็ก
ข้อดีอีกประการของกระเบื้องลอนซีเมนต์ใยหินนี้ คือ
น้ำหนักที่เบา และความลาดของหลังคาที่ทำได้น้อยลง
ช่วยลดน้ำหนักแผ่นมุงหลังคาและโครงสร้างหลังคา
ลงอย่างมากเมื่อเทียบกับหลังคากระเบื้องคอนกรีต
จึงช่วยประหยัดค่าก่อสร้างได้มาก กระเบื้องหลังคา
ชนิดนี้เริ่มมีใช้ในประเทศไทยอย่างแพร่หลายเมื่อ บริษัท
กระเบื้องกระดาษไทย จำกัด ในเครือบริษัท ปูนซีเมนต์ไทย
จำกัด สร้างโรงงานผลิตกระเบื้องกระดาษแผ่นเรียบ
และแผ่นลอนสำหรับมุงหลังคา ในราวต้นทศวรรษของ
พ.ศ. 2490 การผลิตกระเบื้องหลังคาแผ่นซีเมนต์ใยหิน
ในประเทศไทยได้เองนี้ ช่วยทำให้กระเบื้องหลังชนิดนี้
wider than that of concrete tile roof. While the ridges
of a Monier concrete tile were 2 cm high, those of a
corrugated asbestos fibre-reinforced cement tile could
reach 5 cm high. All these qualities helped quicken
the drainage of rainwater and avoid leaks by reducing
a lot of gaps between tiles. As a result, the roof pitch
now could reach as low as 15 degrees. These
corrugated asbestos fibre-reinforced cement tiles
were catagorised by the ridge types; double
corrugated tile, big corrugated tile, and small
corrugated tile.
In addition, these lightweight corrugated
fibre-reinforced cement tiles and the low pitch roof
had a huge effect on the weight reduction of the
roofing sheets and the structures, which saved a lot
of construction costs. In Thailand, this type of tiles
became famous when the Siam Fiber-Cement Co.
Ltd., member of the SCG Group opened their factories
to manufacture the flat paper tiles as well as the

อยู่ค่อนข้างยาวนาน และต่อเนื่องมาจนราวทศวรรษของ
พ.ศ. 2520 เมื่ออิทธิพลของสถาปัตยกรรมหลัง
สมัยใหม่ (Postmodern Architecture) จากตะวันตก
เริ่มแพร่หลายเข้ามายังประเทศไทย แนวความคิดของ
สถาปัตยกรรมหลังสมัยใหม่ มีการให้ความสำคัญกับบริบท
ของสถาปัตยกรรม ไม่ว่าจะเป็นที่ตั้ง ชุมชน วัฒนธรรม
และประวัติศาสตร์ที่เกี่ยวข้อง สิ่งเหล่านี้มักถูกละเลย
หรือไม่ก็ถูกต่อต้านจากแนวคิดของสถาปัตยกรรมสมัย
ใหม่ด้วยซ้ำ สถาปัตยกรรมหลังสมัยใหม่เห็นคุณค่าของ
สถาปัตยกรรมในอดีต และต้องการสร้างความสัมพันธ์
กับคุณค่าเหล่านั้น เริ่มมีการศึกษา ฟื้นฟู และอนุรักษ์
อาคารเก่าที่ทรงคุณค่า เริ่มมีการนำรูปแบบสถาปัตยกรรม
จากอดีตมาประยุกต์ใช้กับอาคารที่สร้างใหม่
กระแสสถาปัตยกรรมหลังสมัยใหม่นี้เกิดขึ้นกับ
corrugated roof tiles in the early 1950s. The ability
to produce this higher quality and cheaper type of
tiles domestically caused Wiboonsri tile’s popularity
to finally subside.
The low-pitched roof houses with corrugated
paper tiles as roofing material remained famous for
quite a long period of time. In the 1970s, the influence
of Postmodern Architecture from the West started to
grow in Thailand. This Postmodern Architecture
concept emphasised on the context of architecture
such as location, community, culture, and related
history. All these things had always been omitted or
even rejected by the concept of Modern Architecture.
Postmodernism valued architecture of the past and
attempted to relate to such values. The study on the
precious vintage buildings including the restoration
and the conservation were initiated. The historical
architectural styles were applied in the construction
of new buildings.
