บ้านพักอาศัยของไทยภาคกลางใช้ระบบมาตรฐาน
Standardization แม้ว่าเราไม่ได้พัฒนาระบบนี้ขึ้นถึงระดับสูง
เช่นที่ชาวญี่ปุ่นทำได้สำเร็จก็ตาม แต่ก็นับได้ว่าสถาปนิกในอดีต
ของเราได้สร้างเอกลักษณ์ ในแบบสถาปัตยกรรมประเภทนี้ไว้
อันควรแก่การภูมิใจ
คุณสมบัติอีกประการที่อาจเรียกได้ว่าเป็นเอกลักษณ์ของ
งานสถาปัตยกรรมประเภทบ้านพักอาศัยก็คือ การที่พืชพันธุ์ไม้
วางห้อมล้อมตัวอาคาร ทำหน้าที่เป็นฉนวนป้องกันตัวเรือนให้
พ้นจากความร้อน และสายลมฝนและเนื่องจากที่ดินยังมีเพียง-
พอ สวนครัวสวนสมุนไพร จึงเข้ามาอยู่ร่วมกันด้วย ทั้งหมดนี้
เมื่อรวมกันขึ้น คือ งานสถาปัตยกรรมแบบอุทยานนคร ปัจจุบัน
สภาพเมืองอุทยานได้สูญสิ้นไปแล้วจากประเทศ
สิ่งที่น่าวิตกมาก คือ อาคารทุกชนิดในปัจจุบันแสดงความชิง
เด่นให้ปรากฏ ได้มีการแสดงแปลกประหลาดและดึงดูดสายตา
ด้วยกรรมวิธีต่างๆ เราควรเลิกการทำอะไรที่ชิงเด่นกันได้แล้ว
อยู่กันอย่างสงบ สงัด และเลิกคิดว่า สถาปัตยกรรมเป็นพระเอก
เรายกตำแหน่งนี้ให้แก่ธรรมชาติ เหตุสำคัญ 2 ประการคือ
1.เพื่อความกลมกลืน
2.เพื่อความประหยัด
ความกลมกลืนของอาคารในเมืองเป็นสิ่งซึ่งก่อให้เกิด
สะท้อนสัมผัสที่ราบรื่นตัวอย่างเช่นการใช้ระบบมาตรฐาน ของ
อาคารบ้านไทยภาคกลางในอดีต รูปทรงของไทยภาคกลางใน
อดีตซึ่งปัจจุบันได้ถูกทอดทิ้งไปแล้วนั้น บางท่านอาจจะเห็นว่า
Thai houses in the central region of Thailand are a part
of standardized architecture. Although the system may
not be as complicated as traditional Japanese houses,
it doesn’t make them any less unique but something
that we can be proud of.
One important characteristic is how plants are
strategically arranged around the house. They act as
insulation and protect the house from gusts and rain.
Back then, houses were built on large pieces of land.
Herb gardens sit among big trees creating something
similar to a park. This characteristic is now a bygone
quality in residential architecture of Thailand.
What is so worrying is how buildings right now try
so hard to be noticed. They demand attention in the
most bizarre and every way possible. We have to stop
competing for attention and live in peace and quietude.
We must stop thinking that architecture is the leading
man and give this title to nature for 2 important reasons;
1. Everything should be in harmony
2. To save cost
Harmony of buildings is the quality that brings
about the standardization of traditional houses in the
central region of Thailand. This architecture, which
