บ้านเรือนถิ่นไทยในช่วงเจ็ดทศวรรษ 2489-2559

พุทธศักราช 2489 ถึง 2559 (ค.ศ.1946-2016)
นับเป็นช่วงเวลาเจ็ดทศวรรษในรัชสมัยของพระบาท
สมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช บรมนาถ
บพิตร ประชาชนคนไทยส่วนใหญ่ในปัจจุบันล้วน
เกิดภายใต้รัชกาลของพระองค์แทบทั้งสิ้น ในช่วง
รัชสมัยของพระองค์ สภาพชีวิตของคนไทยได้ผ่าน
การเปลี่ยนแปลงต่างๆ ไปตามกาลเวลา ท่ามกลาง
ความผันแปร เปลี่ยนแปลง เหตุและผล เราคนไทยจึง
เติบโตและใช้ชีวิตภายใต้กลไกขับเคลื่อนอันสืบเนื่องมา
จากปัจจัยต่างๆ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นปัจจัยทางสังคม การเมือง
และเศรษฐกิจ
สถาปนิกมักมองว่าเป็นการยากที่จะใช้ข้อมูล
ทางสังคม การเมือง และเศรษฐกิจมาเป็นปัจจัยใน
การออกแบบ ในทางตรงกันข้าม นักสังคมศาสตร์
รัฐศาสตร์ และเศรษฐศาสตร์ทำงานในพื้นที่ของตนโดย
อิงข้อมูลเหล่านี้เป็นเรื่องปกติ
“สเปซ (space)” เป็นคำที่สถาปนิกนิยมใช้กัน
อย่างกว้างขวางและมีความหมายเฉพาะในเชิง
สถาปัตยกรรมแบบที่ไม่เหมือนกับสาขาอื่น ถึงแม้
สถาปนิกจะใช้คำนี้บ่อยจนแทบจะเรียกได้ว่าผูกขาด
แต่ผู้รู้ในสาขาวิชาอื่นก็ใช้คำนี้ในศาสตร์ของตนเช่นกัน
พันธมิตรในสาขาวิชาเหล่านี้ศึกษาในสิ่งที่มีความเชื่อม
โยงกับสถาปัตยกรรม สนใจในเนื้อหาเดียวกัน และใน
“สเปซ” เดียวกันกับสถาปัตยกรรม สาขาวิชาเหล่านี้
คือ สังคมศาสตร์ รัฐศาสตร์ และเศรษฐศาสตร์ เราจึง
สามารถนำวิธีการทำงานของพวกเขามาปรับใช้ได้
บทสนทนาเกี่ยวกับสเปซกับพันธมิตรเหล่านี้จึงนำมา
ซึ่งความเข้าใจที่ถ่องแท้ขึ้นกับการสำรวจความหมาย
ของคำว่า “สเปซ”
The years 1946 to 2016 cover seven decades
under the reign of His Majesty the King Rama 9. Most
of Thai people who are alive today were born under
his reign. The passing time of the long reign naturally
brings about evolutions in life. Along the changes,
the shifts, the causes and the effects that occurred,
Thai people grow up and live their lives under the
driving mechanism of social factors, political issues
and lastly economics concerns.
The social factors, the political issues, and the
economics concerns have always been taken as
difficulties for architects to cope with. On the contrary,
sociologists, political scientists, and economists
work on these platforms that often overlap with the
architectural space.
‘Space’, a jargon commonly used by architects
carries a specific meaning in architecture which is hardly
shared by others. Although terminologically, the term
’space’ seems to be most frequently used in architecture, it
has always been referred to by non-architect practitioners
in their built environment studies. There are allies in this
inhabitation whose works are closely linked to architecture
and even concern on the same issues within the same
‘space’ as architecture. Social Science, Political Science,
and Economics are the cases in point. Their ways of
working with ‘space’ could, then, be employed. The
result of discussion on ‘space’ with these architect’s allies
provides the extensive understanding with the more
conclusive exploration within ‘space’.
