บทสัมภาษณ์
อาจารย์กิจโชติ: เรียนถามอาจารย์เรื่องเบื้องหลังของการ
ออกแบบ โดยเฉพาะเนื้อหาหลักๆ ที่อาจารย์วทัญญูได้วาง
แนวทางไว้ครับ
ดร.กรวิศฎ์ : คุณพ่อจะให้ความสำคัญกับเรื่องเนื้อหาของวัสดุ
เป็นอย่างมาก ยกตัวอย่างเช่น เรื่องของอิฐ คุณพ่อจะสั่งเผา
พิเศษ ไม่มีขายในสมัยนั้น อิฐผิวเปลือย หรือ อิฐโชว์แนว ก่อ
อิฐไม่ให้อยู่ตรงกลางต้องเหลื่อมมาหน่อย ระยะต้องเท่ากัน
คุณพ่อเป็นคนเนี้ยบมาก ตอนแรกๆ ถ้าก่อเอียงท่านสั่งต่อยทิ้ง
เป็นแบบนี้หลายครั้งจนกระทั่งมีคนนึงชื่อ แม่ฮวย คุณพ่อท่าน
บอกให้ลองมาก่ออิฐ ท่านสอนแม่ฮวยก่ออิฐ ปรากฏว่าแม่
ฮวยก่อได้ดี บ้านนี้ทั้งหลังเลยเป็นฝีมือก่ออิฐของแม่ฮวย จาก
คนผสมปูนกลายมาเป็นคนชำนาญเรื่องก่ออิฐ
คุณพ่อท่านถือหลักว่าทุกอย่างเกิดขึ้นจากธรรมชาติ ท่าน
เป็นศิษย์ของท่านพุทธทาส อิฐ หิน ปูน ทรายอยู่ชั่วนาตาปีไม่
ต้องทาสีเลย อย่างอันนี้เป็นไม้สักอาจจะมีการทาสี 10 ปีครั้งนึง
นอกนั้นไม่ต้องทาเลย สีที่ขอบนิดหน่อยเอง บ้านหลังนี้จะร่วม
สมัยเมื่อ 40 ปีที่แล้ว บ้านหลังนี้เริ่มสร้าง 2516 เข้าอยู่ 2518
เริ่มต้นร่างแบบประมาณปี 2515 แบบเป็นรูปเป็นร่างปี 2516
แล้วเริ่มสร้างตอกเสาเข็มวางศิลาฤกษ์ ใช้เวลาก่อสร้าง 2 ปี ตอน
ช่วงเริ่มต้นก่อสร้างมีการขนส่งเสาเข็มซึ่งยาวมาก คนทั่วไปเห็น
คิดว่าจะสร้างโรงแรม คือต้องตอกลงไปจนกระทั่งมันไม่ลงแล้ว
ดร.กรวิศฎ์ : คุณพ่อท่านโดนย้ายจากการเคหะปี 2518
เรียกได้ว่าท่านได้อยู่บ้านนี้ตอนเป็นผู้ว่าการเคหะประมาณ
1 เดือน ท่านโดนย้ายสมัยรัฐบาลคึกฤทธิ์ เสร็จแล้วคุณประสิทธิ์
ณรงค์เดช มาเป็นผู้ว่าการเคหะแทนโดยการเมือง แต่คุณ
พ่อท่านไม่ยึดติดทางการเมืองท่านเลยย้ายมาอยู่สถาบันวิจัย
วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
อาจารย์สัณฐิตา: ตรงนี้เป็นที่ดินของธนาคารอาคารสงเคราะห์
เมื่อก่อนตรงนี้เป็นทุ่งนา แล้วก็มีควายเล็มหญ้า
ดร.กรวิศฎ์ : แนวความคิดในการสร้างบ้านของอาจารย์วทัญญู
คือ ต้องการให้ใช้ชีวิตนอกห้องนอน ห้องนอนแต่ละห้องจะเล็ก
หมดเลย ชีวิตส่วนใหญ่คือใช้เวลารับแขกทำอะไรอยู่ข้างนอก
อาจารย์สัณฐิตา: ตอนนั้นเราก็ไม่ค่อยมีโทรศัพท์ ทีวีก็เป็นทีวี
ขาวดำ เริ่มมีทีวีสีรุ่นแรกๆ แต่ละคนก็เลยมารวมกันแถวนี้กัน
หมด ไม่ค่อยมีโลกส่วนตัว
Interview
Quijxote: Can you tell me what’s the story behind the
design? And what is the important content of this house?
Dr.Koravisd : My father focused a lot on material content.
Bricks used in this house were all custom-made. Bricks
that show real texture of the material. He was very meticulous.
Bricks must be laid in slight overlapping patterns.
If he was not satisfied, the workers had to redo it over
and over. Finally, there was this female cement mixer
called Huay who turned out to be a talented bricklayer.
Brick work in the whole house was done by her.
My father was a disciple of Buddhadasa so he believed
that everything was born from nature. Materials like bricks,
stone, plaster or sand don’t need to be painted. Teakwood
may need paint once every ten years, but that’s it. The
house was very modern 40 years ago. The design process
was completed in 1973. The construction started in 1973
and took two years to finish. The foundation piles were
so long that people thought we were building a hotel. The
piles were pounded on until they couldn’t go any deeper.
Dr.Koravisd : He lived in this house for about one
month when he was the director of the National Housing
Authority before removed from the position in 1975
during Kuekrit government. But he was never the one
to hold on to political titles, so he moved to Thailand
Institute of Scientific and Technological Research.
Santita : This plot used to be the property of Government
Housing Bank. It was a rice paddy field with buffaloes
walking around.
Dr.Koravisd : Father’s idea of a house is living his life
outside the bedroom. All bedrooms are small. Because
we spend most of our time outside.
Santita : Back then telephone was not a common thing.
Televisions were all black and white. When we first got
color screen TV, everyone came here to watch TV.
There was not a lot of privacy.
Dr.Koravisd : After a while, we started to feel that the
house might be a bit too small but in fact it was not.
