Educational Needs Of Families In Turkey
INTRODUCTION
Mankind and humanity culture have been maintaining within the institution of
family starting with prenuptial agreement, being accepted as indispensable and adopted
as common value by all of the societies throughout the human history. Family having
important functions such as ensuring reproduction of the mankind, providing educa-
tion through which social culture is conveyed to new generations and socialization is
learnt, and meeting psychological and spiritual satisfaction needed by its members gra-
tuitously in the highest level in a socially safe way is accepted as a unit constituting base
of the societies. Even though family phenomenon has different meanings within
historical and social periods, it refers to a social unit where some developmental events,
which can be considered almost as universal, are experienced.
A child is born as a resultant of biological assets of mother and father in a family
and comes to be a member of the society thanks to their feeding and protection. This is
just one side of the situation and it refers mostly to part seen from outside. As an easily
comprehensible small society, a family functions as a bridge extending towards envi-
