Educational Needs Of Families In Turkey<br />

It was found that rate of the individuals not wanting to take part in training to be<br />

organized in all of the topics relating to law is higher compared to those wanting to<br />

participate. Results of chi-square made with the aim of determining educational needs<br />

and competence le<strong>ve</strong>ls of the participants in legal topics for the matters such as gender,<br />

age, educational backgrounds, family life period are presented below in the form of<br />

separate titles.<br />

Gender. Male participants’ le<strong>ve</strong>ls of considering themsel<strong>ve</strong>s competent in all of the<br />

topics relating to law are higher compared to the female participants. Howe<strong>ve</strong>r, female<br />

participants’ eagerness for taking part in training to be organized is significantly higher<br />

compared to the male participants. This finding can be interpreted as women need<br />

training in legal topics more.<br />

Family type. It was obser<strong>ve</strong>d that there are significant differences among the groups<br />

considering from point of the types of the families, where participants li<strong>ve</strong>. It was seen<br />

that participants living in the extended families consider themsel<strong>ve</strong>s more competent<br />

compared to other family types, and that participants living in families made up of<br />

students / workers express more competency in the other topics. Considering the case<br />

that eagerness for taking part in training to be organized in legal topics differs according<br />

to the type of the families, it was seen that eagerness le<strong>ve</strong>ls of participants with<br />

broken family type are significantly higher compared to the participants in the other<br />

family types.<br />

Family Life Period. While competence le<strong>ve</strong>ls of the families in the “newly married”<br />

and “married with a small child” period relating to legal topics are higher, competence<br />

le<strong>ve</strong>ls of the families in “middle aged or old marriage” period are lower compared to the<br />

other groups. It was found that participants in the family structures of newly married<br />

family and family with small children want to take part in a training to be organized<br />

more.<br />

Monthly Income. Considering from the point of the monthly incomes of the participants,<br />

it was determined that participant having incomes of 2501 TL and more form<br />

the group considering themsel<strong>ve</strong>s most competent while the most eager group for taking<br />

part in training is made up of participants having incomes of 701-900 TL and 500<br />

TL and less.<br />
