Educational Needs Of Families In Turkey<br />

8. Management of the Family Resources: Understanding decisions of the family<br />

relating to distribution and de<strong>ve</strong>lopment of resources in the matters of Time, Money<br />

and Material Assets, Friends and Neighbours, Place.<br />

Individuals making up society begin socialization process in a family, and acquire a<br />

significant part of their personalities and individual features here. For that reason, atti-<br />

tudes and behaviours of parents as well as their awareness le<strong>ve</strong>ls in the matter of child<br />

training in family are of great importance for determination of features of a society. On<br />

the other hand, healthiness of relationships among individuals in a family is one of the<br />

components, which will influence the healthiness of a society. We can imagine a<br />

healthy society just through healthy families.<br />

Main titles were determined for re<strong>ve</strong>aling educational needs of the families consid-<br />

ering results of the researches conducted in abroad and in Turkey. These topics are as<br />

follows:<br />

• Communication in family<br />

• Family health<br />

• Family law<br />

• Family economy<br />

• Use of media in family<br />

• Education in family<br />

Searching knowledge and awareness le<strong>ve</strong>ls of families about determined educational<br />

topics is of great importance in terms of educational studies and practices for improving<br />

social relations. In order to de<strong>ve</strong>lop various service implementations and educational<br />

programs to be brought to families in de<strong>ve</strong>lopment of the policies for families, data<br />

which will enable to know these aspects of the families more closely are needed.<br />

7.1.1. Purpose of the Research<br />

Main purpose of this research is to determine educational needs of the families. To<br />

this end, topics in which families find themsel<strong>ve</strong>s competent or incompetent, topics in<br />

which they are eager or reluctant to take part in training, sources they use to obtain<br />

information, methods via which they want to recei<strong>ve</strong> training and factors pre<strong>ve</strong>nting<br />
