8. Management of the Family Resources: Understanding decisions of the family
relating to distribution and development of resources in the matters of Time, Money
and Material Assets, Friends and Neighbours, Place.
Individuals making up society begin socialization process in a family, and acquire a
significant part of their personalities and individual features here. For that reason, atti-
tudes and behaviours of parents as well as their awareness levels in the matter of child
training in family are of great importance for determination of features of a society. On
the other hand, healthiness of relationships among individuals in a family is one of the
components, which will influence the healthiness of a society. We can imagine a
healthy society just through healthy families.
Main titles were determined for revealing educational needs of the families consid-
ering results of the researches conducted in abroad and in Turkey. These topics are as
follows:
• Communication in family
• Family health
• Family law
• Family economy
• Use of media in family
• Education in family
Searching knowledge and awareness levels of families about determined educational
topics is of great importance in terms of educational studies and practices for improving
social relations. In order to develop various service implementations and educational
programs to be brought to families in development of the policies for families, data
which will enable to know these aspects of the families more closely are needed.
7.1.1. Purpose of the Research
Main purpose of this research is to determine educational needs of the families. To
this end, topics in which families find themselves competent or incompetent, topics in
which they are eager or reluctant to take part in training, sources they use to obtain
information, methods via which they want to receive training and factors preventing
