munication differ significantly according to the duration of the marriage.
According to Chi-square analysis results relating to comparison of family members’
eagerness for taking part in a training to be organized in dimension of communication
according to the duration of the marriage, those having been married for 16 or more
years are less eager taking part in trainings to be organized in the matters relating to
communication compared to those having been married for less than 16 years. This
finding can be explained with the fact that those having been married for 16 or more
years have already developed these skills or they do not believe that such training will
be beneficial for people having been married for such a long time.
Family type. The group considering themselves least competent compared to other
participants in the matters relating to communication is generally made up of those
living alone. Family type, in which eagerness for taking part in training to be organized
in the matters of communication is the highest, is extended families.
Family life period. According to Chi-square analysis results relating to comparison
of family members’ levels of considering themselves competent in dimension of com-
munication according to family life period, those considering themselves most compe-
tent in the matter of children’s establishing healthy friendship compared to the other
participants are childless middle-aged or old, married participants. Those considering
themselves least competent in this matter are participants in the prenuptial period.
The most eager groups for taking part in trainings to be organized in dimension of
communication are generally newly married individuals and individuals with a small
child while the most reluctant group is generally made up of childless middle-aged or
old, married participants.
Number of the children. Participants having four or more children consider them-
selves less competent in the matters of communication compared to the other partici-
pants. Main reason for it may be the fact that participants having four or more children
