Educational Needs Of Families In Turkey
One of the most important matters threatening maternal health and future of the
individuals, who will establish families, is sexual health. In this process, family mem-
bers, who will take care of patients or old people, encounter some difficulties. Family
members not professional in determination of psycho-social problems, needs, skills,
and demands and potential of the old people in need of nursing experience certain
difficulties. Nursing services conducted without acquiring sufficient information about
personality of the individual and illness or disability requiring care will not be efficient
adequately.
Decreasing maternal mortalities and infant deaths can be achieved via providing
mother with a qualified care and mother’s acquiring proper information, attitudes and
behaviours. Mother must receive care so as to protect her own health and the health of
the baby.
Dental health expenses are one of the expense items, whose expenses are high for
family budget and the government budget. Mouth and dental health expenses can be
minimized through protective health measurements. It will be enough to raise
awareness of the individuals in this matter and enable them to learn and practice proper
mouth and dental health techniques. Mouth hygiene is something related to our entire
health and life. It is known that mouth and dental health is not attached enough
importance in our country.

Topics determined with the aim of revealing families’ competence levels and eagerness
levels for taking part in the trainings with regard to education are mentioned below:
1. Prevention and control of the undesirable behaviours of the children
2. Child development
3. Helping child in choice of profession
4. Religious values / religious education of the family members
5. Sexual development
6. Relations with disabled people and individuals in needs of nursing
7. Protection from natural disasters such as earthquake, flood, fire and security
