Chaldeans will be bound in ships. A 15 I am the Lord God, your Holy One, who introduced
Israel as your king." 16 Thus says the Lord, the one who grants a way in the sea and a
path in the strong water, 17 the one who brought forth chariots, cavalry, and a strong
crowd (nevertheless, they lay down and will not arise): "They were extinguished as flax
is extinguished. 18 Do not remember the former things, and do not recapitulate the
ancient things. 19 Behold, I am making new things which will now spring forth, and you
will know them; I will make a way in the desert and rivers in the waterless land. 20 The
beasts of the field will bless me, the sirens and the daughters of sparrows, for I granted
water in the desert and rivers in the waterless land to give a drink to my chosen race,
21 my people whom I preserved to declare my virtues.
22 I did not just now summon you, O Jacob, neither did I cause you to become
weary, O Israel. 23 The sheep of your whole burnt offering were not for me, neither did
you glorify me with your sacrifices, B neither did I make you weary with frankincense,
24 neither did you acquire incense for me with silver, neither did I covet the fat of your
sacrifices. Instead, I stood before you C in your sins and in your unrighteous acts. 25 I
am, I am the one who erases your lawless acts, and I will not remember them. D 26 You
should remember, and let us be judged; tell your lawless acts first, so that you may be
justified. 27 First your fathers and their rulers committed lawless acts against me. 28 The
rulers defiled my holy things; I granted the destroying of Jacob, and for Israel to be a
reproach.
Isaiah 44
1 Now listen, my servant Jacob, and Israel whom I chose." 2 The Lord God, who made
you and who formed you from the womb, says this: "You will still be helped; do not be
afraid, my servant Jacob, the beloved Israel whom I chose. 3 For I will grant water when
there is thirst to those who walk in a dry place; I will place my Spirit on your seed and
my blessings on your children. 4 They will spring up like grass in the midst of water, and
like a willow beside flowing water. 5 This one will say, `I am God's,´ and that one will
cry out by the name of Jacob. Another will inscribe, `I am God's by the name of
Israel.´" E
6 God, the king of Israel, the one who delivered him, the God of sabaóth, say this: "I
am the first, and I am after these things; beside me there is no God. 7 Who is like me?
Let him stand, let him call, and let him prepare for me, since I made man forever. Let
