Ezekiel 5
1 Son of man, take for yourself a sword sharper than a barber's razor; you will
acquire it for yourself, and you will bring it over your head and over your beard. You
will take a balance of weights, and you will set things apart. 2 You will ignite a fourth
part with fire in the midst of the city at the fulfillment of the days of the confinement,
you will take a fourth part and burn it up in her midst, you will cut up a fourth part with
a sword all around her, and you will scatter a fourth part to the breeze; I will unsheathe
a dagger after them. 3 You will take from there a few in number and enclose them in
your mantle. 4 You will take some of these again, throw them into the midst of the fire,
and burn them up with fire; fire will come out from it.
You will say to all the house of Israel, 5 `Thus says the Lord: A "This is Jerusalem; I
have placed her and the countries around her in the midst of the nations. 6 You will tell
my righteous decrees and my regulations to the lawless one from the nations, from the
countries which are around her, because they rejected my righteous decrees and did
not walk in my regulations." 7 Because of this, thus says the Lord: "Since your origin was
from the nations which are around you, and you did not walk in my regulations and did
not perform my righteous decrees (indeed, you have not even performed according to
the righteous decrees of the nations which are around you)," 8 because of this, thus
says the Lord: "Behold, I am against you; I will perform a judgment in your midst in the
sight of the nations. 9 I will perform among you things which I have not performed, the
like of which I will not perform again, according to all your abominations. 10 Because of
this, fathers will eat children in your midst, and children will eat fathers. I will perform
judgments among you, and I will scatter all who are left of you to every wind.
11 Because of this, as I live," says the Lord. "since you defiled my holy things with all
your abominations, surely I also will reject you; my eye will not spare, and I will not
show mercy. 12 A fourth part of you will be disposed of in an execution, a fourth part of
you will be terminated in a famine in your midst, a fourth part of you I will scatter to
every wind, and a fourth part of you will fall by the sword all around you; I will
unsheathe a dagger after them.
13 My anger and my wrath will be terminated over them; you will recognize that I the
Lord have spoken in my zeal when I terminate my wrath over them. 14 I will place you
and your daughters around you in a desert, in the sight of everyone who passes by.
15 You will be lamentable and miserable among the nations which are around you when
I perform judgments among you in the vengeance of my anger. I the Lord have
spoken. 16 When I send forth my javelins of famine against them, they will be for
extinction, and I will break the support of your bread. 17 I will send forth against you
famine and evil beasts, and I will punish you. Death and blood will pass over you, and I
will bring a sword against you all around. I the Lord have spoken."´"
