"Behold, I am against you, O Mount Seir, and I will extend my hand against you; I will
grant you to be a desert, and you will be deserted. 4 I will cause desertion in your cities;
you will be a desert, and you will know that I am the Lord. 5 In return for your becoming
an eternal animosity (you even stationed yourself deceitfully in the house of Israel, with
the hand of enemies, by the sword, in a season of wrongdoing, to the last), 6 because of
this, as I live," says the Lord, the Lord, "since you sinned resulting in blood, blood will
also pursue you. 7 I will grant Mount Seir to be a desert and deserted, and I will destroy
from it men and livestock. 8 I will fill your hills and valleys with your wounded, and in all
your plains those who have been wounded will fall in you by the sword. 9 I will set you
up as an eternal desertion; your cities will no longer be inhabited, and you will know
that I am the Lord.
10 Because you said, `The two nations and the two countries will be mine, and I will
inherit them even though the Lord is there,´ 11 because of this, as I live," says the Lord,
"I will also act toward you according to your animosity, and I will be known by you
whenever I judge you; 12 you will know that I am the Lord. I heard the voice of your
blasphemies, that you said, `The mountains of Israel are deserted; they have been
given to us for food.´ 13 You spoke great words against me with your mouth; I myself
heard." 14 Thus says the Lord: "During the cheerfulness of all the earth, I will make you
into a desert. 15 You will be a desert, O Mount Seir, and all Idumea will be consumed;
you will know that I am the Lord their God."´
Ezekiel 36
1 You, son of man, prophesy over the mountains of Israel, and say to the mountains
of Israel, `Hear the word of the Lord. 2 Thus says the Lord, the Lord: "In return for this,
the enemy said against you, `Good! The eternal deserted places became a possession
for us!´"´ 3 Because of this, prophesy and say, `Thus says the Lord, the Lord: "In return
for your being dishonored and your being hated by those around you, in order that you
might be a possession for the remaining nations (you even went up as chatter by the
tongue and for an insult by the nations), 4 because of this, you mountains of Israel, hear
the word of the Lord. Thus says the Lord to the mountains, the hills, the valleys, the
streams, the desolated and obliterated places, and the cities which have been
abandoned, which became a prey and a place of trampling for the surrounding nations
which were left; 5 because of this, thus says the Lord, the Lord: `Surely in the fire of my
fury I spoke against the rest of the nations and against all Idumea, because they gave
my land to themselves for a possession with cheerfulness, dishonoring souls so as to
obliterate them in a plunder.´"´ 6 Because of this, prophesy over the land of Israel, and
say to the mountains, the hills, the valleys, and the glens, `Thus says the Lord:
"Behold, I spoke in my zeal and in my fury, in return for your enduring the reproaches
of the nations. 7 Because of this, I will lift up my hand against the nations which
surround you; these will receive their dishonor. 8 But my people will eat your grapes and
your fruit, you mountains of Israel, for they are hoping to come. 9 For behold, I am over
you, and I will watch over you; you will be tilled and sown. 10 I will multiply men over
you, all the house of Israel to the end; the cities will be inhabited, and the one which
was deserted will be built. 11 I will multiply men and livestock over you. I will cause you
