not be afraid; trembling will not come near you. 15 Behold, converts will approach you
through me, A and they will seek refuge in you. 16 Behold, I am creating you, not like a
coppersmith who blows on coals and brings out a vessel for work; I created you, not in
order to ruin resulting in destruction. 17 I will not give success to any ruined vessel
against you. B Every voice will arise against you for judgment; you will vanquish them
all, and your guilty ones will be in the same condition. There is an inheritance for those
who attend the Lord, and you will be righteous for me," says the Lord.
Isaiah 55
1 "You who are thirsty, go to the water, and as many as do not have silver, proceed
and buy; drink wine and fat without silver and price. 2 Why do you value what comes
from silver, and your labor which does not result in satisfaction? Hear me, and you will
eat good things; your souls will feast on good things. 3 Pay attention with your ears and
follow my ways; listen to me, and your souls will live among good things. I will make
for you an eternal testament, the hallowed things of David, the faithful things. 4 Behold,
I have given him as a testimony among the nations, as a ruler and commander to the
nations. 5 Nations which were not acquainted with you will call upon you, and peoples
who did not comprehend you will flee to you, because of your God, the Holy One of
Israel, for he glorified you."
6 Seek God, and when you find him, call upon him. Whenever he draws near to you,
7 let the ungodly one leave his ways and the lawless man his counsels; let him return to
the Lord, and he will be shown mercy, for he will abundantly forgive your sins. 8 "For my
counsels are not like your counsels, nor are my ways like your ways," says the Lord.
9 "But as the heaven is distant from the earth, so is my way distant from your ways and
your thoughts from my mind. 10 For as rain or snow descends from heaven and does not
return until it saturates the earth, and it brings forth, sprouts, and gives seed to the
sower and bread for food, 11 so will my word be, whatever comes out of my mouth; it
will not return until as many things as I wanted have been accomplished. I will give
success to your ways and my commands. 12 For you will come out in gladness and will
be taught in joy; for the mountains and the hills will leap to accept you in joy, and all
the trees of the field will applaud with their branches. 13 Instead of the bramble, the
cypress will come up, and instead of the nettle, the myrtle will come up. The Lord will
become a name and an eternal sign, and he will not fail."
Isaiah 56
1 Thus says the Lord: "Preserve justice and perform righteousness, for my salvation
is close to arriving, and my mercy is close to being revealed. 2 Fortunate is the man who
performs these things and the person who takes hold of them, who preserves the
sabbaths by not profaning them and maintains his hands in not performing
unrighteousness." 3 Let the stranger who is attached to the Lord not say, "The Lord will
