kingdoms; it will devour all the earth, and trample and destroy it. 24 His ten horns are
ten kings which will arise, and after them another will arise, who will exceed all the
former ones in wicked acts; he will humiliate three kings. 25 He will speak words against
the Most High and will wear out the holy ones of the Most High; he will think to change
seasons and law, and it will be given in his hand for a season, and seasons, and half a
season. 26 The court will sit down, and they will remove his realm in order to obliterate it
and to destroy it completely. 27 The kingdom, the authority, and the greatness of the
kings which are underneath all of heaven were given to the holy ones of the Most High.
His kingdom is an eternal kingdom, and all realms will serve and respond to him." 28 At
this point was the end of the saying. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts greatly disturbed
me, and my complexion was changed upon me. I maintained the matter in my heart.
Daniel 8
1 In the third year of the reign of Belshazzar the king, a vision appeared to me,
Daniel, after the one which appeared to me at the beginning. 2 I was in Susa, the citadel
which is in the land of Elam, and I was by the Ubal. A 3 I lifted up my eyes and looked,
and behold, one ram was standing before the Ubal. It had horns, and the horns were
high; the one was higher than the other, and the high one came up last. 4 I saw the ram
charging toward the sea, the north, and the south. None of the beasts will stand before
it, and there was no one who rescued out of its hand. It acted according to its will and
was magnified.
5 I was considering, and behold, a male goat of the goats was coming from the
southwest over the surface of all the earth, yet it was not touching the earth. The male
goat had a visible horn between its eyes. 6 It came to the ram which had the horns,
which I saw standing before the Ubal, and it ran at it with a rush of its strength. 7 I saw
it reaching as far as the ram; it was enraged against it and struck the ram, and it broke
both its horns. There was no strength in the ram to stand before it; it threw it upon the
earth and trampled it, and there was no one who rescued the ram out of its hand. 8 The
male goat of the goats was magnified exceedingly, and when it was strong, its great
horn was broken. Four horns arose underneath it toward the four winds of heaven.
9 Out of one of them came one strong horn, and it was excessively magnified toward
the south, toward the east, B and toward the force. 10 It was magnified as far as the
force of heaven; it fell on the earth from the force of heaven and from the stars, and it
trampled them, 11 even until the chief commander might deliver the captivity. On
account of it, the sacrifice was disturbed; this happened and gave it success. The holy
place will be deserted. 12 Sin was given over the sacrifice and righteousness was thrown
to the ground; it acted and succeeded. 13 I heard one holy one speaking, and one holy
one said to the palmoni C who was speaking, "How long will the vision stand (the
sacrifice which was taken away and the sin of desolation which was given), and the
holy place and the force be trampled?" 14 He said to him, "Until two thousand four
