My holy name will be known in the midst of my people Israel; my holy name will no
longer be profaned. The nations will know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.
8
Behold, it has arrived, and you will know that it will be," says the Lord, the Lord. "This
is the day concerning which I spoke.
9
Those who inhabit the cities of Israel will come out and make a fire with the
weapons, shields, spears, bows, arrows, hand staffs, and lances; they will make a fire
with them for seven years. 10 They will not take wood out of the plain, nor will they cut
down out of the forests, but they will burn the weapons with fire. They will plunder
those who plundered them and spoil those who spoiled them," says the Lord.
11
"It will be on that day that I will give to Gog a place of renown, a tomb in Israel,
the mausoleum of those who advance to the sea. They will build around the rim of the
valley, and there they will bury Gog and all his multitude; it will be called Gai, A the
mausoleum of Gog. 12 The house of Israel will bury them so that the land may be
cleansed in a seven month period. 13 All the people of the land will bury them; it will be
for them a place of renown on the day it was glorified," says the Lord. 14 "They will
continually set apart men who go over the land to entomb those who have been left on
the surface of the land, to cleanse it after the seven month period, and they will search.
15
Everyone who goes through the land and sees a man's bone will build a sign beside it,
until whenever the entombers entomb it in Gai, the mausoleum of Gog. 16 For the name
of the city will be Mausoleum, and the land will be cleansed."´
17
You, son of man, say, `Thus says the Lord: "Say to every winged bird and to all
the beasts of the plain, `Gather and come; gather from all the surrounding places at
my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you, a great sacrifice on the mountains of
Israel; you will eat meat and drink blood. 18 You will eat the meat of giants, and you will
drink the blood of rulers of the earth, rams, calves, and goats; they are all fattened
calves. 19 You will eat fat to satisfaction, and you will drink wine to intoxication due to
my sacrifice which I have sacrificed for you. 20 You will be filled at my table with horse
and rider, giant and every man who is a warrior,´" says the Lord.
21
"I will give my glory among you; all the nations will see my justice which I
performed and my hand which I brought over them. 22 The house of Israel will know
that I am the Lord their God from this day and onwards. 23 All the nations will know that
the house of Israel was taken captive because of their sins, since they rebelled against
me, and I turned my face away from them and delivered them up into the hands of
their enemies, and they all fell by the sword. 24 I did to them according to their unclean
acts and according to their lawless acts, and I turned my face away from them."
25
Because of this, thus says the Lord, the Lord: "Now I will turn back the captivity of
Jacob; I will have mercy on the house of Israel and will be zealous on account of my
holy name. 26 They will receive their dishonor and the wrongdoing which they committed
when they resided on their land in peace, yet there will be no one who would terrify.
27
When I turn them back from the nations and I gather them out of the countries of the
nations, I will be sanctified among them in the sight of the nations. 28 They will know
A Heb gai, "valley," first appears untranslated in the LXX as the name for Moses' burial
site in Deut. 34:6
