36 The Lord said to me, "Son of man, won't you judge Oholah and Oholibah, and
declare to them their lawless acts? 37 For they committed adultery, and blood was in
their hands; their considerations committed adultery, and their children, which they
conceived for me, passed through the fiery coals for them. 38 As long as they did these
things to me, A they were defiling my holy things and profaning my sabbaths. 39 When
they slaughtered their children for their idols, they also were going into my holy things B
to profane them. Not only were they doing so in the midst of my house, 40 they also did
so to the men who were coming from a distance, to whom they sent forth messengers.
As soon as they came, immediately you began to wash, paint your eyes, apply
adornments, 41 and sit on a bed which had been made up; also, a table had been
adorned before her face. As for my incense and my oil, they became cheerful by them.
42 They struck up a sound of harmony, even for men arriving from the desert out of the
multitude of humans. They gave bracelets on their hands and a crown of boasting on
their heads. 43 I said, `Aren't they committing adultery with these people? She also
engaged in prostitution by the works of a prostitute.´ 44 They went in to her in the
manner that they go in to a woman who is a prostitute; in this way they went in to
Oholah and to Oholibah to perform lawlessness. 45 Righteous men will themselves take
vengeance on them with the vengeance of an adulteress and with the vengeance of
blood, for they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
46 Thus says the Lord, the Lord: `Bring up a crowd against them, and give
disturbance and plunder among them. 47 Throw stones at them with the stones of
crowds, and pierce them with their knives. They will kill their sons and their daughters
and burn up their houses. 48 I will turn back ungodliness out of the land; all the women
will be instructed, and they will not act in agreement with their ungodly acts. 49 Your
ungodliness will be given against you, you will receive the sins of your considerations,
and you will know that I am the Lord.´"
Ezekiel 24
1 The word of the Lord was directed at me in the ninth year, in the tenth month, on
the tenth of the month, saying, 2 "Son of man, write to yourself daily from this day from
which the king of Babylon settled over Jerusalem, from this very day. 3 Tell an
illustration against the provoking house; you will say to them, `Thus says the Lord: "Set
up the kettle and pour water into it. 4 Throw the pieces into it, every excellent piece, the
leg and shoulder with the flesh stripped from the bones, 5 which have been taken from
choice livestock, and burn the bones underneath them. It seethed; her bones seethed
and were cooked in her midst."
6 Because of this, thus says the Lord: "O city of blood, the kettle in which there is
poison! C The poison did not come out of her; it brought her out limb by limb. No lot fell
on her. 7 For her blood is in her midst; I have arranged it on a smooth rock. I have not
