23 It happened that, after all your wicked acts," says the Lord, 24 "you built for
yourself a housing for prostitutes and made for yourself an edict in every street. 25 At
the beginning of every way, you built your prostitutions and corrupted your beauty; you
carried your legs to every passerby and multiplied your prostitution. 26 You engaged in
prostitution with the sons of Egypt who were adjacent to you, who were great of flesh;
you engaged in prostitution many times to provoke me. 27 If I extend my hand against
you, I will remove your regulations and deliver you up to the souls of those who hate
you, the daughters of the Philistines who turned you out of your way. You became
ungodly, 28 and you engaged in prostitution with the daughters of Asshur, yet you were
not filled even in this way; you engaged in prostitution, yet were not being filled. 29 You
multiplied your testaments to the land of the Chaldeans, yet you were not filled even by
these.
30 Why should I make a testament for your daughter," says the Lord, "when you are
doing all these things, the works of a woman who is a prostitute? You engaged in
prostitution three times by your daughters. 31 You built a brothel at every beginning of a
way and made your pedestal in every street, and you became A like a prostitute
gathering fees. 32 A woman who is committing adultery is similar to you, taking fees
from her husband; 33 she was giving out fees to everyone who engaged in prostitution
with her. You have given fees to all your paramours; you were encumbering them in
order to come to you in your prostitution from all around. 34 A perverted thing happened
in you beyond women in your prostitution: they have engaged in prostitution with you
in your giving out of fees, yet fees were not given to you. Perverted things happened in
you."
35 Because of this, O prostitute, hear the word of the Lord. 36 Thus says the Lord:
"Since you poured out your copper, your shame will be revealed in your prostitution
with your paramours, for all the considerations of your lawless acts, and with regard to
the blood of your children which you gave them. 37 Because of this, behold, I will gather
against you all your paramours with whom you had intercourse and all whom you
loved, with all whom you were hating. I will gather them against you all around and
reveal your wicked acts to them, and they will see all your shame. 38 I will take
vengeance on you with the vengeance of an adulteress and of a woman who pours out
blood, B and I will place you in the blood of fury and jealousy. 39 I will deliver you up into
their hands, and they will raze your brothel and tear down your pedestal. They will strip
you of your clothing, take implements of your boasting, and leave you naked and
ashamed. 40 They will bring crowds against you; they will stone you with stones and
slaughter you with their knives. 41 They will burn your houses with fire and execute
vengeance on you in the sight of many women. I will turn you away from your
prostitution, and I will no longer give you fees. 42 I will discharge my fury over you, and
my jealousy will be removed from you. I will rest and no longer be anxious about you.
43 Since you did not remember the day of your infancy and were grieving me by all
these things, behold, I have given your ways onto your head," says the Lord, "for in
