their sons and their daughters with fire, which I did not command them and did not
intend in my heart. 32 Because of this, behold, days are coming," says the Lord, "and
they will no longer say, `The platform of Topheth and the valley of the son of Hinnom,´
but, `The valley of those who were carried away.´ They will bury in Topheth because
of not having space. 33 The dead of this people will exist as food for the birds of heaven
and for the beasts of the earth; there will be no one who will scare them away. 34 I will
abolish from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the sound of those
who are cheerful and the sound of those who are rejoicing, the sound of the groom and
the sound of the bride, for all the land will become a desolation.
Jeremiah 8
1 In that season," says the Lord, "they will bring out the bones of the kings of Judah,
the bones of his rulers, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the
bones of those reside in Jerusalem out of their graves. 2 They will expose them to the
sun and the moon, to all the stars, and to all the host of heaven which they loved,
which they served, after which they went, to which they clung, and which they
worshiped. They will not be mourned for, and they will not be buried. They will exist as
that generation in every place where I will drive them out, because they chose death
rather than life."
return? 6 Please listen and hear. Will they not speak in this way, `There is no man who
repents of his wickedness, saying, "What did I do?"´ The runner paused from his
course like a sweating horse during his neighing. 7 The stork in heaven knew her
season, as well as the turtledove and the swallow of the field; the sparrows observed
the seasons of their entrance. But my people did not know the judgments of the Lord.
8 How will you say, `We are wise, and the law of the Lord is with us´? In vain did the
scribes possess a false pen. 9 The wise were ashamed, terrified, and confined, because
they rejected the word of the Lord; what wisdom is among them? 10 Because of this, I
will give their wives to others and their fields to inheritors. A
13 They will gather their produce," says the Lord. There is no grape cluster on the
vines, and there are no figs on the fig trees; the leaves dropped off. 14 Why are we
sitting? Gather yourselves; let us enter the fortified cities and be thrown away. For God
threw us away and made us drink bitter water, because we sinned before him. 15 We
gathered for peace, yet there were no good things, and for a season of healing, yet
behold, an emergency! 16 We will hear out of Dan the sound of the swiftness of his
horses; all the land shook due to the sound of the neighing of his cavalry of his horses.
He will arrive and devour the land and its fullness, the city and those who reside in it.
17 "For behold, I am sending forth against you deadly serpents for which there is no
charm, which will bite you, 18 incurable things along with the grief of your confused
