priests profane the holy things and are ungodly with respect to the law. 5 The Lord is
righteous in her midst and will not perform what is unjust. Morning by morning he will
give his verdict in the light; it was not hidden. He did not know wrongdoing connected
to extortion, A and there is no wrongdoing resulting in strife. 6 I brought down the
arrogant with corruption; their towers were obliterated. I will cause their roads to be
deserted, so that there is absolutely no passing through. Their cities failed, since no one
is present or residing there. 7 I said, `Fear me nevertheless. Accept discipline, all acts of
vengeance which I took against her, and you will not be destroyed out of her eyes. Get
prepared; rise up early!´ All their gleaning was corrupted.
8 Because of this, wait for me," says the Lord, "until the day of my resurrection as a
testimony. For my verdict for the gathering of nations is to admit kings so as to pour
out upon them all the wrath of my anger. For in the fire of my zeal all the earth will be
consumed. 9 For then in her generation I will alter the language for the peoples, so that
everyone may invoke the name of the Lord in order to serve him under one yoke.
10 From the limits of the rivers of Ethiopia B they will bring sacrifices for me. 11 On that
day you will not be ashamed of all your habits, by which you became ungodly against
me. For then I will remove from you the contemptible things of your pride, and you will
no longer continue to boast on my holy mountain. 12 I will leave among you a gentle and
humble people, and they will be reverent due to the name of the Lord. 13 The remnants
of Israel will neither engage in wrongdoing nor speak vanities. A deceitful tongue will
not be found in their mouths, because they will graze and lie down, and the one who
frightens them will be no more."
14 Rejoice, O daughter of Zion! Proclaim, O daughter of Jerusalem! Have good cheer
and be delighted from your entire heart, O daughter of Jerusalem! 15 The Lord took
away your injustices; he has redeemed you from the hand of your enemies. The king of
Israel, the Lord, is C in your midst; you will not see wicked things any longer. 16 In that
season the Lord will say to Jerusalem, "Have courage, O Zion! Do not let your hands
relax. 17 The Lord your God is among you; the powerful one will save you. He will bring
good cheer upon you and renew you in his love. He will have good cheer over you with
delight as on a festival day. 18 I will gather those who are afflicted. Woe to the one who
took up a reproach against it! 19 Behold, I will take action among you on your behalf in
that season," says the Lord. "I will save her who has been forced out and admit her
who has been driven away. I will set them up as a boast and as famous names in all
the earth. 20 They will be ashamed in that season when I do you good, and in the
season when I admit you. For I will grant you to be famous names and a boast among
all the peoples of the earth, when I return your captivity in your sight," says the Lord.
