widowhood like an eagle, for they went away from you into captivity.
Micah 2
1 They were planning troubles and producing wicked things in their beds, and as
soon as it was day they perpetrated them, for they did not lift up their hands to God.
2 They coveted fields, plundered orphans, overpowered houses, and plundered a man
and his house, a man and his inheritance. 3 Because of this, thus says the Lord: "Behold,
I myself am planning wicked things against this tribe, out of which you will not lift up
your necks. You will not suddenly walk upright, for the season is evil. 4 On that day an
illustration will be taken up against you, and a lamentation will be uttered with music,
saying, `We are suffering distress. A division of my people was measured out with a
line, and there was no one who would prevent him from turning away; our fields were
divided.´ 5 Because of this, you will have no one who will cast a line by lot in the
assembly of the Lord.
6 Do not weep with tears, and do not let them shed tears over these things, for
reproaches will not decline. 7 Surely these are not the habits of the one who says, `The
house of Jacob provoked the Spirit of the Lord.´ Are his words not beautiful with him,
and have they not walked upright? 8 Previously my people resisted in animosity; in
opposition to his peace, they stripped off his hide so that the devastation of war might
deprive of hope. 9 Because of this, those who govern my people will be thrown out of
their houses of luxury; they were rejected because of their evil habits. Draw near to the
eternal mountains. 10 Arise and go, for because of uncleanness, this is not your rest. You
were brought to ruin. 11 You were pursued closely, even though no one was pursuing. A
spirit set up a lie; it dropped you into wine and liquor. It will be that, as a result of the
dropping of this people, 12 Jacob will be gathered with everyone. I will await the
remnants of Israel; I will bring about their return at the same place. Like sheep in
oppression, like a flock in the midst of their pen, they will jump away from men.
13 Through the breach before their face, they broke through, passed through the gate,
and came out through it. Their king came out before their face, and the Lord will lead
them."
Micah 3
1 He will also say, "Now hear these things, you realms of the house of Jacob and you
remnants of the house of Israel. Is it not for you to know the judgment, 2 you who hate
the beautiful things and seek the ugly things, who tear their skin from them and their
flesh from their bones? 3 In this manner they devoured the flesh of my people, stripped
off their skin from their bones, A smashed their bones, and dismembered them as flesh
for the kettle and as meat for the pot." 4 In this way they will shout to the Lord, yet he
will not listen to them. He will turn his face away from them in that season, because in
their habits they brought evil upon themselves.
5 Thus says the Lord against the prophets who lead my people astray, who bite with
A from their bones A ¦ from them V
