sleep with the uncircumcised, in the midst of those who were wounded by the sword.´
22 Asshur and all his congregation were there; all his wounded were put there. Their
burial was in the depth of the trench, and his congregation was around his monument,
all the wounded who fell by the sword, A 23 who put the fear of them over the land of life.
24 Elam and all his force were there around his monument, all the wounded who fell by
the sword and those who went down into the depth of the earth, who put the fear of
them over life. They received their torment with those who went down into the trench,
25 in the midst of the wounded. 26 Meshech, Tubal, and all their strength were put there
around his monument, as well as all his wounded and all the uncircumcised who were
wounded due to the sword, who put the fear of them over life. 27 They slept with the
giants who fell of old, who went down into Hades with their military weapons. They
placed their swords under their heads, and their lawless acts were on their bones,
because they made giants afraid during their life. 28 You yourself will sleep in the midst
of the uncircumcised, with those who have been wounded by the sword. 29 The rulers of
Asshur were put there, B who put their strength into the wounding of the sword. These
slept with the wounded, with those who went down into the trench. 30 The rulers of the
north were there, all the captains of Asshur, who went down wounded with their fear
and strength. The uncircumcised slept with those who were wounded by the sword and
endured their torment with those who went down to the trench. 31 King Pharaoh will see
them and be comforted over all their strength," C says the Lord, the Lord. 32 "For I have
put the fear of him over life, yet he will sleep in the midst of the uncircumcised with
those who were wounded by the sword, the Pharaoh and all his multitude," says the
Lord, the Lord.
Ezekiel 33
1 The word of the Lord was directed at me, saying, 2 "Son of man, speak to the sons
of your people. You will say to them, `Over whatever land I bring a sword, the people
of the land will take one man from them, and they will give him as a watchman for
themselves. 3 He will see the sword coming over the land, blow the trumpet, and signal
the people. 4 The one who hears the sound of the trumpet, who hears yet does not keep
watch, the sword will come upon and overtake him; his blood will be upon his head.
5 For although he heard the sound of the trumpet, he did not keep watch; his blood will
be upon him, yet the former, because he did keep watch, rescued his soul. 6 If the
watchman sees the sword coming and does not signal the trumpet, the people do not
keep watch, and the sword comes and takes a soul from them, the latter was taken
because of its lawlessness, and I will require the blood from the hand of the
watchman.´
