created and made; I brought him and gave success to his way.
12 Hear me, you who have destroyed the heart, who are far from righteousness. 13 I
brought near my righteousness, and I will not be slow with the salvation which is from
me. I have given salvation in Zion to Israel, resulting in glorification.
Isaiah 47
1 Come down, sit on the ground, O virgin daughter of Babylon; enter the darkness, A
O daughter of the Chaldeans, for you will no longer continue to be called tender and
delicate. 2 Take a millstone, grind meal, remove your veil, uncover the gray hair, bare
the legs, pass through rivers. 3 Your shame will be uncovered, your reproaches will be
brought to light. I will take from you what is righteous; I will no longer deliver you up to
men." 4 The one who delivered you (the Lord of sabaóth is his name, the Holy One of
Israel) said, 5 "Sit stunned; enter the darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans. You will no
longer be called the strength of the kingdom. 6 I was provoked over my people; you
defiled my inheritance. I gave into your hand, but you did not give them mercy; you
made the yoke of the elder exceedingly heavy. 7 You said, `I will be a woman who rules
forever.´ You did not ponder these things in your heart or remember the last things.
8 Now hear these things, O delicate one who sits confidently, who says in her heart, `I
am, and there is no other; I will not sit as a widow or know orphanhood.´ 9 Now these
two things will arrive upon you suddenly in one day; widowhood and childlessness will
arrive suddenly upon you in connection with your sorcery, exceedingly in connection
with the strength of your enchantments, 10 in the hope of your evil. For you said, `I am,
and there is no other.´ Know that the understanding of these things and your
prostitution will be shame for you; you said in your heart, `I am, and there is no
other.´ 11 Destruction will arrive upon you, and you will not know; there will be a pit,
and you will fall into it. Distress will arrive upon you, and you will not be able to become
clean; destruction will arrive suddenly upon you, and you will not know. 12 Now stand in
your enchantments and your abundant sorcery, which things you learned from your
youth, if you are able to be benefited. 13 You have labored in your counsels. Let the
astrologers of the heaven stand and save you; let those who see the stars tell you what
is about to come upon you. 14 Behold, they all will be burned up like sticks over a fire,
and they will not rescue their souls from the flame. Because you have coals of fire, sit
on them; 15 these will be a help to you! You have labored in your transition from youth.
Each man wandered by himself; there will be no salvation for you."
Isaiah 48
1 Hear these things, O house of Jacob, the ones who have been called by the name
of Israel and the ones who came out of Judah, the ones who swear by the name of the
Lord God of Israel, mentioning it, but not with truth or with righteousness, 2 laying claim
to the name of the holy city and leaning on the God of Israel (the Lord of sabaóth is his
name). 3 I already reported the former things; they came out of my mouth and became
