24 Because of this, thus says the Master, the Lord of sabaóth: "Woe to those who are
strong in Israel! For my fury with my opponents will not cease, and I will execute the
judgment of my enemies. 25 I will lay my hand on you and burn you clear through. I will
destroy those who are distrustful; I will remove from you all the lawless and humble all
the arrogant. A 26 I will establish your judges as before and your advisors as from the
beginning. After this you will be named the City of Righteousness, the Faithful
Metropolis of Zion."
27 For her captives will be saved with justice and with mercy. 28 The lawless and the
sinners will be smashed together, and those who abandon the Lord will be brought to
an end. 29 For they will be ashamed of their idols which they desired, and they will be
greatly ashamed of the groves which they coveted. 30 For they will be like a turpentine
tree which has dropped its leaves and like a garden which does not have water. 31 Their
strength will be like a thread of flax and their accomplishments like fiery sparks. The
lawless and the sinners will burn together, and there will be none to quench it.
Isaiah 2
1 B
The word which was directed at Isaiah son of Amos from the Lord concerning
Judea and concerning Jerusalem.
2
For in the last days the mountain of the Lord will be visible, and the house of God
will be on the tops of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all the
nations will come to it. 3 Many nations will go and say, "Come, let us go up to the
mountain of the Lord and to the house of the God of Jacob. He will describe his way to
us, and we will walk in it." For the law will come out of Zion and the word of the Lord
out of Jerusalem. 4 He will judge between the nations and will reprove a large number of
the people. They will beat their swords into plows and their spears into sickles. A nation
will no longer take up a sword against a nation, and they will no longer learn to wage
war.
5 6
Come now, O house of Jacob; let us walk in the light of the Lord. For he neglected
his people, the house of Israel, because their country was filled with superstitions as it
was originally, like the country of the Philistines. Many Philistine children were
conceived by them. 7 For their country was filled with silver and gold, and no number
existed for their treasures. The land was filled with horses, and no number existed for
their chariots. 8 The land was filled with abominations, the works of their hands, and
they worshiped the things which their fingers made. 9 A person bowed down and a man
was brought low, yet I will not release them. 10 Now enter the cliffs and hide in the
ground due to the fear of the Lord and on account of the glory of his strength, when he
arises to shatter the earth. 11 For the eyes of the Lord are high, but man is low. The
height of men will be brought low, and the Lord alone will be exalted on that day. 12 For
the day of the Lord of sabaóth will be upon every violent and arrogant person, upon
every high and lofty person (and they will be brought low), 13 upon every cedar of
