which you spoke by the hand of your servants the prophets, for the bones of our kings
and the bones of our fathers to be brought out of their places. 25 Behold, they are being
thrown out to the heat of the day and to the frost of the night; they died by evil labors,
by famine, by the sword, and by banishment. 26 You set up the house over which your
name was invoked as it is this day, because of the evil of the house of Israel and the
house of Judah.
27 You acted toward us, O Lord our God, according to all your fairness and according
to all your great compassion, 28 just as you spoke by the hand of your servant Moses on
the day when you commanded him to write your law before the sons of Israel, saying,
29 "If you do not listen to my voice, surely this very great commotion will turn into a
small one among the nations where I will scatter them. 30 For I knew that they would
not listen to me, because it is a stiff-necked people. Yet they will return to their hearts
in the land of their exile. 31 They will know that I am the Lord their God. I will give them
a heart and listening ears, 32 and they will praise me in the land of their exile, remember
my name, 33 and turn away from their stiff back and from their evil deeds, for they will
remember the way of their fathers who sinned before the Lord. 34 I will turn them away
to the land which I swore to their fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and they will
dominate it. I will multiply them, and they will not be diminished. 35 I will establish for
them an eternal testament for me to be God for them, and they will be a people for me.
I will no longer move my people Israel away from the land which I gave them."
Baruch 3
1 O almighty Lord, O God of Israel, the soul in difficulties and the spirit with agonies
is shouting to you. 2 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy, for you, O God, are merciful; have
mercy, A for we sinned before you. 3 For you are sitting forever, and we are perishing
forever. 4 O almighty Lord, O God of Israel, hear now the prayer of those of Israel who
have been put to death and of the sons who are sinning before you, who did not listen
to the voice of their God; B wicked things were joined to us. 5 Do not remember the
unjust acts of our fathers; instead, remember your hand and your name in this season.
6 For you are the Lord our God, and we will praise you, O Lord. 7 For because of this, you
gave the fear of you upon our hearts, so as to invoke your name. We will praise you in
our exile, for we turned away from our hearts every unjust act of our fathers who have
sinned before you. 8 Behold, today we are in our exile where you scattered us, resulting
in a reproach, resulting in a curse, and resulting in a penalty, in agreement with all the
unjust acts of our fathers who stood apart from the Lord our God.´"
9 Hear, O Israel, the commands of life; listen in order to know intelligence. 10 Why is
it, O Israel, that you are in the land of your enemies, that you grew old in a foreign
land, 11 that you were defiled with the dead, that you were reckoned with those who are
for Hades? 12 You abandoned the fountain of wisdom. 13 If you had walked in the way of
God, you would have resided in peace forever. 14 Learn where there is intelligence,
where there is strength, where there is understanding, together with knowing where
