were opposite; these were worshiping the sun. A 17 He said to me, "Have you seen, son
of man? Is it a little thing to the house of Judah to perform the acts of lawlessness
which they have performed here? For they filled the land with acts of lawlessness, B and
behold, these are like those who turn up their noses. C 18 I will perform for them with
fury; my eye will not spare, nor will I have mercy." D
Ezekiel 9
1 He cried out into my ears with a loud voice, saying, "The avenging of the city is
near!" Each one had the implements of elimination in his hand. 2 Behold, six men came
from the way of the high gate which looked to the north, and the axe of each one was
in his hand. One man in their midst was clothed to his feet, and a sapphire belt was on
his loins. They entered and stood next to the bronze altar.
3 The glory of the God of Israel which was over them ascended from the cherubim to
the atrium of the house. He called the man who was clothed to his feet, who had the
belt on his loins. 4 The Lord said to him, "Pass through the midst of Jerusalem and give
the sign on the foreheads of the men who are groaning and who are afflicted over all
the lawless acts which are happening in their midst." 5 He said to these as I was
listening, "Go after him into the city; cut down, do not let spare with your eyes, and do
not show mercy. 6 Kill to extinction elder, youth, virgin, infants, and women, but do not
approach anyone upon whom is the sign. Begin from my holy places." They began from
the elderly men who were inside the house. 7 He said to them, "Defile the house; go
out, fill the ways with the dead, and cut down." 8 It happened that, while they were
cutting down, I fell on my face and cried out; I said, "Alas, O Lord! Will you make the
rest of Israel extinct in your pouring out of your anger over Jerusalem?" 9 He said to me,
"The wrongdoing of the house of Israel and Judah has become exceedingly great, for
the land was filled with many peoples, and the city was filled with wrongdoing and
uncleanness. For they said, `The Lord abandoned the earth; the Lord is not looking at
it.´ 10 My eye will not spare, and I will not show mercy; I have given their ways onto
their heads."
11 Behold, the man who was clothed to his feet and girded with the belt on his loins
answered and said, "I have done as you commanded me."
Ezekiel 10
1 I looked, and behold, over the firmament which was above the head of the
cherubim was the likeness of a throne over them, like a stone of sapphire. 2 He said to
the man who was clothed with the robe, "Enter the midst of the wheels which are
under the cherubim. Fill your palms with coals of fire from the midst of the cherubim
and scatter them over the city." He entered in my sight. 3 The cherubim stood on the
