their shoulders and will be comforted on their knees. 13 As if a mother would comfort
someone, so also will I comfort you; you will be comforted in Jerusalem. 14 You will see;
your hearts will rejoice, and your bones will spring up like grass. The hand of the Lord
will be known by those who revere him, and he will threaten those who distrust him.
15 For behold, the Lord will arrive like fire and his chariots like a hurricane, to pay
back vengeance with fury and repudiation with a flame of fire. 16 For with the fire of the
Lord all the earth will be judged, and all flesh with his sword. Many will be wounded by
the Lord. 17 Those who purify and cleanse themselves for the gardens, and in the
thresholds eat swine's flesh, abominations, and the mouse, will be consumed together,"
said the Lord. 18 "I understand their works and their plan. I am coming to gather all the
nations and languages; they will arrive and see my glory. 19 I will leave a sign on them,
and I will send forth from them those who have been saved to the nations, to Tarshish,
Put, Lud, Meshech, and Tubal, and to Greece and to the islands far away, who have not
heard my name or seen my glory; they will announce my glory among the nations.
20 They will bring your brothers from all the nations as a gift to the Lord with horses and
chariots, in mule-drawn litters with shades, to the holy city Jerusalem," said the Lord,
"as the sons of Israel bring their sacrifices to me with psalms into the house of the
Lord. 21 I will take from them priests and Levites for myself," said the Lord. 22 "For in the
manner that the new heaven and the new earth, which I am making, are remaining
before me," says the Lord, "so will your seed and your name stand. 23 It will be for
month after month and for sabbath after sabbath; all flesh will arrive before me to
worship in Jerusalem," said the Lord. 24 "They will come out and see the carcasses of
the men who have transgressed against me, for their worm will not be deceased and
their fire will not be quenched; they will become a spectacle for all flesh."
