a proud neck, with winks of the eyes and movement of the feet together, trailing the
skirts and dancing with the feet together, 17 God will humble the ruling daughters of
Zion, and the Lord will reveal their character on that day." 18 The Lord will take away the
glory of their clothing and their ornaments, A the hair braids and ribbons, the chokers
19 and neckwear, the adornment of their faces 20 and the glorious ornament collection,
the anklets and bracelets, the hair brooch and armlets, the finger rings and earrings,
21 the garments bordered and interlaced with purple, 22 the robes for inside the house
and the translucent Laconian garments, 23 the blue and scarlet linen garments, the linen
interwoven with gold and blue, the summer garments for lounging. 24 Instead of a
pleasant smell, there will be dust; instead of a belt, you will be girded with a rope;
instead of a gold ornament for the head, you will have baldness because of your
actions; instead of a skirt interlaced with purple, you will be girded with sackcloth.
25 Your most handsome son whom you love will fall by the sword, and your strong men
will fall by the sword. 26 The boxes of your ornaments will be humiliated and will mourn;
you will be left alone and will be dashed to the ground.
Isaiah 4
1 Seven women will seize one man and say, "We will eat our own bread and wear
our own clothes; just let your name be given to us. Take away our reproach."
2 On that day God will shine on the earth with counsel accompanied by glory, to exalt
and glorify the remnant of Israel. 3 The remainder in Zion and the remnant in Jerusalem
will be called holy, all who were written down for life in Jerusalem. 4 For the Lord will
wash away the filth of the sons and daughters of Zion, and will cleanse the blood from
their midst with the spirit of judgment and the spirit of burning. 5 He will come, and
every site on Mount Zion will be there. A cloud will overshadow all the areas
surrounding it during the day, and something like smoke and like the light of a burning
fire will overshadow them at night. It will be sheltered in all glory. 6 It will become a
shade from heat, a shelter and a hiding place from harshness and rain.
Isaiah 5
1 Now I will sing for the beloved a song about what is loved in my vineyard. The
beloved had a vineyard in a fertile place on a peak. 2 I placed a fence around it, staked
and planted a sorek B vine, built a tower in its midst, and excavated for a wine vat in it. I
waited for the production of grapes, but it produced thorns. 3 Now, O man of Judah and
those who reside in Jerusalem, judge between me and my vineyard. 4 What further will I
do to my vineyard that I did not do to it? For I waited for the production of grapes, but
it produced thorns. 5 Now I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away
its fence, and it will be for plunder; I will pull down its wall, and it will be for trampling.
6 I will neglect my vineyard; it will not be pruned or cultivated, and thorns will come up
in it as on barren land. I will command the clouds not to shower any rain on it. 7 For the
