For the sea was moving and was raising up more waves. 12 Jonah said to them, "Take me and throw me into the sea, and the sea will recede from you, for I recognize that these large waves are upon you because of me." 13 The men tried hard to return to land, but they could not, for the sea was moving and was rising up even more against them. 14 They cried out to the Lord, "O Lord, may we by no means perish because of the soul of this man. Do not put righteous blood on us, for you, O Lord, have done as you wished." 15 They took Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea stopped its rolling. 16 The men were filled with great fear of the Lord.
