91 Nebuchadnezzar heard them singing hymns and was amazed; he rose up in haste
and said to his great men, "Did we not throw three men who had been bound into the
midst of the fire?" They said to the king, "Certainly, O king." B 92 The king said, "Behold,
I see four men untied and walking in the midst of the fire, and there is no injury among
them. The appearance of the fourth is similar to a son of God." 93 Then Nebuchadnezzar
approached the door of the blazing furnace of fire and said, "Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego, slaves of God Most High, come out and go forth!" Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abednego came out of the midst of the fire. 94 The satraps, officers, district rulers, and
potentates of the king gathered and observed the men, for the fire had not dominated
their bodies, the hair of their heads was not singed, their trousers were not altered, and
there was no smell of fire on them. 95 Nebuchadnezzar replied, C "Blessed be the God of
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who sent forth his messenger and rescued his
servants, for they trusted in him. They altered the word of the king and delivered their
bodies up to the fire, so that they might not adore or worship any god but their God. 96 I
set forth a decree: `Every people, tribe, or language which speaks blasphemy against
the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego will be for destruction, and their houses
for ruin, since there is no other god who can deliver in this way.´" 97 Then the king
promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the province of Babylon, and deemed
them worthy to govern all the Judeans who were in his kingdom.
