concluded, to seal sins, to blot out the lawless acts, to seek atonement for
wrongdoings, to bring eternal righteousness, to seal vision and prophet, and to anoint
the holy of holies. 25 You will know and understand: from the departure of the word to
defend and build Jerusalem until the anointed governor A are seven weeks and sixty-two
weeks. It will return, street and wall will be built, and the seasons will be expended.
26 After the sixty-two weeks, the anointing will be destroyed; there is no justice in it. It
will ruin the city and the holy place along with the coming governor; they will be cut off
in a flood. Even to the end of the determined battle, it will arrange obliterations. 27 For
one week, it will empower the testament for many. In half of the week, my sacrifice
and libation will be taken away, and upon the temple will be the abomination of
desolations, even to the conclusion of the season. A conclusion will be given to the
desolation." B
Daniel 10
1 In the third year of Cyrus king of the Persians, a word was revealed to Daniel,
whose name was called Belshazzar. The word was true, and great power and
understanding was given to him in the vision. 2 In those days, I, Daniel, was mourning
for three weeks of days. 3 I did not eat desirable bread, meat and wine did not enter my
mouth, and I did not apply ointment until the fullness of three weeks of days. 4 On the
twenty-fourth day of the first month, I was close to the great river, that is, the Tigris
Hiddekel. C 5 I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a man was clothed in linen, and
his waist was girded with gold of Uphaz. 6 His body was like tin, D his face was like the
appearance of lightning, his eyes were like lamps of fire, his arms and his legs were like
the appearance of gleaming bronze, and the sound of his words was like the sound of a
crowd. 7 I, Daniel, alone saw the vision. The men who were with me did not see the
vision, but a great trance fell on them, and they fled in fear. 8 I was left alone, and I saw
this great vision. There was no strength left in me; my glory was turned into corruption,
and I retained no strength. 9 I heard the sound of his words; when I heard him I was
stunned, and my face was on the earth.
10 Behold, a hand touched me, and it raised me on my knees. 11 He said to me, "O
Daniel, man of desires, gain understanding by the words which I am speaking to you
and stand in your position, for I was just now sent forth to you." When he had spoken
this word to me, I stood up trembling. 12 He said to me, "Do not be afraid, Daniel, for
