15
For you are God, yet we were not acquainted with you, the God of Israel, the savior.
16
All who oppose him will be ashamed and disgraced, and they will walk in shame.´ Be
restored to me, O islands." 17 Israel is being saved by the Lord with an eternal salvation;
they will not be ashamed or disgraced forever.
18
The Lord who made heaven, this God who displayed the earth and made it (he
marked its boundaries; he did not make it to be empty, but to be inhabited), says this:
"I am, and there is no one else. 19 I have not spoken in secret, nor in a dark place of the
earth. I did not say to the seed of Jacob, `Seek vanity.´ I am, I am the Lord, speaking
righteousness and announcing truth.
20
Gather and come; offer counsel together, you who are being saved from the
nations. Those who lift up wood as their carved image, who pray as if to gods who do
not save, did not know this. 21 If they will announce it, let them approach so that
together they may know who caused these things to be heard from the beginning.
Then it was announced to you, `I am God, and there is no other beside me; there is no
righteous one and savior except me.´ 22 Return to me and you will be saved, you who
are from the end of the earth. I am God, and there is no other. 23 By myself I swear:
righteousness will come out of my mouth. My words will not be turned back, for to me
every knee will bend and every tongue will acknowledge God, A
24 saying,
`Righteousness and glory will arrive with him.´ All who separate themselves will be
ashamed. 25 Due to the Lord they will be declared righteous, and in God all the seed of
the sons of Israel will be glorified.
Isaiah 46
1 Bel has fallen; Dagon B has been crushed. Their carvings are for wild animals and
livestock. You carry them bound like a burden for one who is weary 2 and one who is
hungry, together with one who has fainted because he has no strength, those who will
not be able to be saved from war; they themselves were led away captive.
3 Hear me, O house of Jacob and all the remnant of Israel, who are carried from the
womb and taught from infancy. 4 Until old age, I am, and until you grow old, I am; I am
bearing with you. I made, and I will release; I will take up and save you.
5 To whom did you compare me? Look; be skillful, you who are being deceived.
6 Those who collect gold from a purse and silver in a balance will stand it on a scale.
After they hired a goldsmith, they made handiworks; after they bow down, they
worship them. 7 They carry it on their shoulders and go. If they set it up, it remains in
its place; it will not move. Whoever cries out to him, he will not listen; he will not save
him from wicked things. 8 Remember these things and groan. Repent, you who have
been deceived; return in your hearts. 9 Remember the former things from of old, that I
am God, and there is nothing more beside me. 10 I report the last things first, before
they happen, and they are accomplished at once. I said, `All my counsel will stand, and
I will do all the things which I have planned.´ 11 From the east I am calling a bird, and
from a land far away those concerning whom I have planned. I spoke and brought; I
