there is the length of days and life, where there is the light of the eyes and peace.
15 Who found her place? Who entered her treasures? 16 Where are the rulers of the
nations and those who dominated the beasts which are on the earth, 17 who played with
the birds of heaven and laid up treasures of silver and gold, in which men have trusted?
There is no end of their acquisition, 18 those who make plans for silver and are anxious;
there is no discovery of their works. 19 They were obliterated, and they descended into
Hades; others stood up in their place. 20 Young men saw the light and resided on the
earth, but they did not know the way of comprehension, 21 understand its paths, or take
hold of it; their sons were far apart from their way. 22 It was not heard in Canaan, nor
was it seen in Teman. 23 Neither the sons of Hagar who sought understanding on the
earth, nor the merchants of Merran A and Teman, nor the mythmakers and seekers of
understanding knew the way of wisdom or remembered her paths.
24 O Israel, how great is the house of God! How extensive is the place of his
possession! 25 It is great and has no end; it is high and immeasurable. 26 The famous
giants who were from the beginning were there, those who were of good size, those
who comprehended war. 27 God did not choose these, and he did not give them the way
of comprehension. 28 They perished due to not having intelligence; they perished on
account of their thoughtlessness.
29 Who ascended into heaven, took her, and brought her down from the clouds?
30 Who crossed over the sea and found her, and will bring her for choice gold? 31 There is
no one who knows her way or considers her path. 32 Instead, the one who is acquainted
with all things knows her; he found her out with his understanding. The one who
equipped the earth for eternal time filled it with four-footed domestic animals. 33 The
one who sends forth the light and it goes, he named it, and it responded to him with
trembling. 34 The stars shone during their watches and were cheerful. 35 He called them,
and they said, "We are present!" They shone with cheerfulness for the one who made
them. 36 This is our God; another will not be reckoned with him. 37 He found out all the
way of comprehension, and he gave it to Jacob his servant and to Israel who was loved
by him. 38 After this, he was seen on the earth, and he associated with men.
Baruch 4
1 This is the book of the ordinances of God and the law which exists forever. All
those who hold on to it will be in life, but those who abandon it will die.
2 Return, O Jacob, and attain it; travel to the lamp in front of its light. 3 Do not give
your glory to another and the things which benefit you to a foreign nation. 4 We are
fortunate, O Israel, for the things which are pleasing to God are known to us.
5 Have courage, my people, the memorial of Israel. 6 You were sold to the nations,
not for destruction; you were delivered up to the opponents because you made God
wrathful. 7 For you provoked the one who made you by sacrificing to demons and not to
God. 8 You forgot the eternal God who nursed you; you also grieved Jerusalem who
raised you. 9 For she saw the wrath from God coming over you, and she said, "Listen,
you sojourners of Zion; God brought great mourning over me. 10 For I saw the captivity
