ighteousness.´
9 Thus says the almighty Lord: `Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these
days these words out of the mouths of the prophets, from the day when the house of
the almighty Lord was founded and from when the sanctuary was built. 10 For before
those days, the wage of men will not result in an advantage, and the wage of livestock
will not exist. There will be no peace away from oppression for the one who goes out
and the one who goes in. I will send forth all men, each against his neighbor. 11 Now I
will not perform for the remnants of this people according to the former days,´ says the
almighty Lord. 12 `But I will show peace; the vine will yield its fruit, the land will yield its
produce, and heaven will yield its dew. I will cause the remnants of my people to inherit
all these things. 13 It will be that, in the manner you were connected to a curse among
the nations, O house of Judah and O house of Israel, so will I bring you to safety, and
you will be connected to a blessing. Have courage and be strong in your hands.´
14 For thus says the almighty Lord: `In the manner I intended to harm you when
your fathers provoked me,´ says the almighty Lord, `and I did not relent, 15 so I have
aligned myself and have intended in these days to do good to Jerusalem and the house
of Judah; have courage. 16 These are the words which you will perform: each of you
speak the truth to his neighbor, and render a peaceful judgment A in your gates. 17 Let
each of you in your hearts not plan wickedness against his neighbor, and do not love a
false oath, for I hated all these things,´ says the almighty Lord."
18 The word of the almighty Lord was directed at me, saying, 19 "Thus says the
almighty Lord: `The fourth fast, the fifth fast, the seventh fast, and the tenth fast will
be to the house of Judah for joy, for cheerfulness, and for good festivals. You will be
cheerful; love both truth and peace.´ 20 Thus says the almighty Lord: `Many peoples will
yet arrive, including those who inhabit many cities. 21 Those who inhabit five cities will
come together in one city, saying, "Let us go to petition the face of the Lord and to
seek the face of the almighty Lord; I also will go." 22 Many peoples and many nations
will arrive to seek the face of the almighty Lord in Jerusalem and to obtain atonement
from the face the Lord.´ 23 Thus says the almighty Lord: `In those days, if ten men from
all the languages of the nations take hold, let them take hold of the hem of a Judean
man, saying, "We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you."´"
Zechariah 9
1 A statement of the word of the Lord. His sacrifice is in the land of Shadrach B and in
Damascus, for the Lord looks upon men and upon all the tribes of Israel, 2 even Hamath
within its borders, Tyre and Sidon, for they were exceedingly intelligent. 3 Tyre built
strongholds for itself, filled treasure chests with silver like dirt, and gathered gold like
mud from the roads. 4 Because of this, the Lord will inherit it and will attack its force in
the sea; it will be consumed in fire. 5 Ashkelon will see and be afraid; Gaza also will
suffer exceeding pain as well as Ekron, for it was ashamed at its trespass. The king will
perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon will not be inhabited. 6 Aliens will be inhabitants in
