een driven out, but rather a virgin from the seed of Israel, yet they will take a widow if
she is from a priest. 23 They will teach my people, and they will make known to them the
difference between holy and profane and between clean and unclean. 24 They will
preside over a judgment of blood in order to decide it. They will be righteous with my
righteous decrees, they will be just with my judgments, they will preserve my
regulations and my ordinances during all my feasts, and they will sanctify my sabbaths.
25 They will not come in to be defiled over the soul of a man, but he will be defiled over
a father, over a mother, over a son, over a daughter, over a brother, and over his sister
for whom there is no husband. 26 After he is cleansed, he will number seven days for
himself. 27 On whatever day they go into the inner courtyard to perform public service in
the holy place, they will bring forth mercy," says the Lord God.
28 "It will be an inheritance for them. I am the inheritance for them; a possession will
not be given to them among the sons of Israel, for I am their possession. 29 They will
eat the sacrifices, both those on behalf of sin and those on behalf of ignorance;
everything distinguished in Israel will be for them. 30 The initial offerings of everything,
the firstborn of everything, and all deductions from all your initial offerings will be for
the priests. You will give your first products to the priest in order to place your blessings
on your houses. 31 The priests will not eat any carcass and what has been torn by beasts
from the birds and from the livestock.
Ezekiel 45
1 When you measure the land in an inheritance, you will set apart an initial offering
for the Lord, a holy area from the land; the length will be twenty-five thousand, and the
breadth twenty thousand. It will be holy within all its borders all around. 2 There will be
a sacred place out of this, five hundred by five hundred, a square all around, and a
space for it all around, fifty cubits. 3 Out of this measurement, you will measure the
length as twenty-five thousand and the breadth as twenty thousand; A the holy of
holies B will be in it. 4 There will be something from the land for the priests who perform
public service in the holy place. It will be for those who draw near to perform public
service for the Lord; it will be for them a place for houses which have been set apart for
their sacred activity. 5 The length will be twenty-five thousand and the breadth will be
twenty thousand; it will be for the Levites who perform public service for the house,
cities for them to reside in as a possession. 6 You will give the possession of the city; the
breadth will be five thousand and the length will be twenty-five thousand. In the
manner of the initial offering of the holy places, they will be for all the house of Israel,
7 as well as for the governor, out of this and from this, as the initial offerings of the holy
places, as the possession of the city in front of the initial offerings of the holy places
and in front of the possession of the city, the areas which are toward the sea, and from
those which are toward the sea to the east. The length will be like one of the parts from
the borders which are toward the sea, and the length will be at the borders which are
