dove, so I will rehearse, for my eyes failed to look into the height of heaven at the
Lord, who rescued me 15 and removed the pain of my soul.´ 16 For it was reported to
you, O Lord, concerning this. You aroused my breath; I was comforted, and I lived.
17 For you chose my soul so that it might not perish; you threw all my sins behind me.
18 For those who are in Hades will not praise you, nor will those who are dead bless you,
nor will those who are in Hades hope for your mercy. 19 Those who are living will bless
you in the manner I also do, for from this day I will produce children, who will declare
your righteousness, 20 O Lord of my salvation. I will not cease blessing you with a harp
all the days of my life in front of the house of God."
21 Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Take a cake of figs and mash it; apply it as a plaster, and
you will be healthy." 22 Hezekiah said, "This is the sign that I will go up to the house of
the Lord God."
ambassadors, and gifts to Hezekiah. For he heard that he had been sick to death and
had arisen. 2 Hezekiah rejoiced over them with great joy, and he showed them the
house of nechótha, A of liquid myrrh, of incenses, of perfume, of silver, and of gold, all
the houses of the vessels of the treasury, and everything which he had in his
storerooms. There was nothing in his house which Hezekiah did not show. 3 Isaiah the
prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him, "What are these men saying, and from
where did they come to you?" Hezekiah said, "They came to me from a land far away,
from Babylon." 4 Isaiah said, "What did they see in your house?" Hezekiah said, "They
saw all the things which are in my house. There is nothing in my house which they did
not see, not even the things which are in my storerooms." 5 Isaiah said to him, "Hear
the word of the Lord of sabaóth. 6 `Behold, days are coming,´ says the Lord, `and they
will take all the things which are in your house. Whatever your fathers gathered until
this day will go to Babylon, and they will leave nothing behind.´ God also said, 7 `For
they will also take some of your children whom you conceived; they will make them
eunuchs in the house of the king of the Babylonians.´" 8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "The
word of the Lord which he spoke is good. Now let there be peace and righteousness in
my days."
Isaiah 40
1 "Comfort, comfort my people," says God. 2 "You priests, speak to the heart of
Jerusalem. Comfort her, for her humiliation has been completed; her sin has been
pardoned. For she received from the hand of the Lord double for her sins."
3 There is a sound of someone shouting in the desert, "Prepare the way of the Lord;
make straight the paths of our God. 4 Every valley will be filled in, and every mountain
and hill will be made low. All the crooked places will become straight, and the rough
