22 The cherubim lifted up their wings; the wheels were next to them, and the glory of
the God of Israel was upon them from above them. 23 The glory of the Lord went up
from the midst of the city and stood on the mountain which was in front of the city.
24 The Spirit took me up and brought me to the land of the Chaldeans, to the captivity,
by a vision, by the Spirit of God. I went up due to the vision which I saw, 25 and I spoke
to the captivity all the words of the Lord which he showed me.
Ezekiel 12
1 The word of the Lord was directed at me, saying, 2 "Son of man, you are residing in
the midst of the wrongdoings of those who have eyes to see, yet do not see, who have
ears to hear, yet do not hear, because it is a provoking house. 3 Son of man, make for
yourself implements of captivity, and be taken captive by day in their sight. You will be
taken captive from your place into another place in their sight, so that they may see
that it is a provoking house. 4 You will bring out your implements as implements of
captivity by day in front of their eyes; you will come out in the evening in their sight as
a captive goes out. 5 In their sight, dig for yourself into the wall, and you will pass
through it; 6 in their sight, you will be taken up on shoulders and come out secretly. You
will cover your face and will not see the ground, because I have given you as a wonder
to the house of Israel." 7 I acted in this way according to everything which he
commanded me. I brought out the implements as implements of captivity by day, and
in the evening I dug for myself through the wall by hand and came out secretly; I was
taken up on shoulders in their sight.
8 The word of the Lord was directed at me in the morning, saying, 9 "Son of man,
didn't the house of Israel, the provoking house, say to you, `What are you doing?´
10 Say to them, `Thus says the Lord, the Lord, the ruler A and governor in Israel and in
all the house of Israel who are in their midst.´ 11 Say, `I am performing wonders in her
midst; in the manner that I have performed, so it will be for them; they will go in a
deportation and captivity.´ 12 The ruler in their midst will be carried on shoulders; he will
come out secretly through the wall and dig in order for him to come out through it. He
will cover his face so that he may not be seen by an eye, and he himself will not see
the ground. 13 I will spread out my net over him, and he will be caught in my enclosure.
I will bring him to Babylon, to the land of the Chaldeans; he will not see her, yet he will
be deceased there. 14 I will disperse to every wind all his helpers who are around him
and all who protect him; I will unsheathe a sword after them. 15 They will know that I
am the Lord when I scatter them among the nations; I will disperse them among the
countries. 16 I will leave behind from them a number of men from the sword, from
famine, and from execution, so that they may declare all their lawless acts among the
nations where they entered. They will know that I am the Lord.
17 The word of the Lord was directed at me, saying, 18 "Son of man, eat your bread
with grief and drink your water with torment and oppression. 19 You will say to the
people of the land, `Thus says the Lord to those who reside in Jerusalem, on the land
of Israel: "They will eat their bread with deficiency and drink their water with
